After Argentina, Hungary, Colombia, Brazil, and Alberta, that's rich.

France's election hasn't occurred yet (though Trump will surely continue trying to interfere in favor of Le Pen), while the situation in Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran is non-electoral interference.

While I think right-wing victories in Ecuador and Peru are more-so a misguided positive view of Trumpism in South America rather than direct interference to the extent as is now occurring in Brazil, another example of such interference would be the Trump administration fueling far-right movements in Europe, contributing to the heightened success of AfD in Germany.

So you're telling me the person who...

    • Recently had his administration hack a voting machine

    • Desperately tried to force the SAVE act which would all but strip away voting rights

    • Tried to meddle with the USPS so much to invalidate mail in ballots...despite himself voting by mail for florida primaries

    • Is actively arresting "suspected" non-citizens in blue states who were born in the US

    • Has openly leaked potential for martial law to suspend elections

    • More leaked information about deploying iSSe to voting locations

...is accusing Canada of interfering in US elections?

The Supreme Court ruled in Trump v US that anything that the President does while in office as an official act he has absolute immunity from, and that specifically includes insurrection against the government, as long as he believes it's in the best interest of the United States.

So, under US law (I'm not exaggerating) those things are all legal.

It did not include the insurrection, which is why the case was never dismissed by the Court.

One of the most damning pieces of evidence that's rarely discussed is that Trump had his personal and campaign lawyers in the meetings surrounding the attempt to change the election, but specifically excluded the official White House counsel. That means he was acting as Candidate Trump and not President Trump.

I'm not a lawyer, so if you want to point me to a source that would be interesting, but going off just the Wikipedia page it seems to specifically include the insurrection within the scope of this decision

The evidence that the White House counsel was excluded from the meetings while his personal and campaign lawyers were is why Smith was able to re-file. It was evidence that Trump was specifically acting as a candidate and not as the President, so it wasn't covered by the official acts immunity.

I sometimes feel like the rest of the free world is not ready to face the disturbing reality of the new US quite yet. I said it before and I stand by it: Europe has to prepare for war with America.

I would be less worried as a Canadian to be honest. Almost everyone in the US has a Canadian family member, or knows people who do. A war with Canada would also be a US civil war in my opinion.

It's much easier to bomb places you can't see everyday.

I bet almost everyone in the US has a US family member too and it hasn't stopped any of them from letting this shit go on.

Sorry, but as a Canadian I have absolutely no faith in you and your populous to not fuck us over.

I have absolutely zero confidence in the American populace to do the right thing, should their government decide to invade us. They are allowing their own government to dismantle their democracy. Why would they suddenly jump to action because they start a war with Canada?

  • Considering the above type of accusations and the fact that the US and Russia are funding the European far right, spreading disinformation and disrupting supply chains. Europe is already at some form of hybrid war with the US.

Russia is running hybrid operations in Europe for at least a decade now, the only thing to create a hot war with the EU is a pullback from NATO by the US. The Trump regime has been signaling such a move for a long time.

A hot war with the US is unlikely, but we have to assume they are an adversary non the less.

Whilst I agree, I think war is the very last resort.
I think Europe should just move away from them in every way. Even if it is done slowly. And stick at it even once the orange Shitnugget dies.

The same goes with Russia. Stop importing their oil, etc. Stop people coming and going from there. However as putin already started a war with Ukraine then go all in and give Zelensky everything he needs (short of nukes) to push them back until it becomes such a drain that putin shrivels back over the border and dies. Once that happens then give them nukes again to stop it happening again.

And hopefully that will give Winnie the pooh something to think about.

Things are difficult with high prices for food and energy, etc, as it is during 'peace time' so Europe may as well just take the short term hit now.

They were just literally responsible for a referundum vote on Alberta seperation from Canada. They arent hiding the fact they had discussions and provided financial help to the seperatists and made commitments of support, and then they have the balls to say we are interfering?

What is wrong with America? Get your damn country in order.

If everyone around you is "influencing elections", maybe you are the one doing the influencing.

I accuse the us of being full of enough prejudiced, selfish and violent people, who elected a rapist twice for their top job, which shows their core values. A deep tradition of punching down and hurting others. It goes back to the assaults, murders and repeated betrayals against the rightful residents, and all the worthless promises. Liberty and justice for all, was a lie, copium to numb the pain of reality, too timid to face the truth, that there is no cosmic justice to fix the suffering of this life.

The real question is, is Trump going to:

    A. Refuse to acknowledge his defeat, pointing to non-existent foreign meddling.

    B. Use the election results as an excuse to re-ignite his trade war with Canada…

    C. Rage against the Democrats for being sorry losers, against the gouverneurs for not investigating the obvious fraud, and against Europe and NATO for, I don’t know..,’reasons’

    D. All of the above
