There's more to the story. Some follow-ups have been posted in other posts.

It was a super low-level beginner rec league. The boy was indeed talented and trained by his father well past the intro to soccer rec league. None of the other kids who had never played could get any time with the ball. He needed to join an older rec league or, more likely, an actual club that could work with his skill.

The father made a bunch of videos, being loud and boisterous while his kid wiped the field with the completely green players, until the parents of all the other children complained and the rec business asked him to leave. He used the videos and viral attention to tag professionals and schools to get his kid's name out there. Once the cops asked him to leave, he complied and they gave him a full refund.

He got his 15m of fame and viral videos and the attention of a bunch of schools and his money back, the other kids of the field got their chance to actually play fairly back.

No harm, no foul. Story should have been over before it began.

In a better world the cops would look at the situation, telll the kid they heard how good he was all the way down at the station, then shake his hand. And give whoever called a citation for wasting police time.

But we are apparently in ACAB world.

This escalation comes as more and more evidence emerges that anti-transgender ads are ineffective, suggesting that embracing anti-transgender messaging is a policy choice rather than a political calculation designed to win an election.

This week, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the official campaign arm of House Democrats, has begun running an ad in South Carolina for Nancy Lacore, the Democratic nominee in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. The ad appears to be the first instance of the high-level Democratic organization running an ad targeting transgender people.

    […]

What’s more alarming for transgender people, however, is that the DCCC is behind the ad. Whereas a candidate’s political ad is the candidate’s choice, an ad paid for by the DCCC is the Democratic Party’s choice. That makes this ad the first known instance of the party itself choosing anti-transgender messaging to win an election, a notable development for those watching for signs that explicitly anti-transgender positions, once rare in the Democratic Party, might be gaining steam across the party as a whole.

Democrats are officially embracing transphobia as their campaign.

The profitability of AI has yet to catch up with the expense of the buildout.

Putting it mildly. What other $10 trillion industry comes to mind? Is there something that singly represents 4% of GDP?

This is 3x the size of the fiber bubble and 4x the size of railways. We’re getting the dystopian sci-fi.
