What the hell happened at Proton since this announcement in 2024?

"...community is the most important thing to us, and we want to ensure that Proton continues to faithfully serve the community for the next 10 years and beyond. To achieve this goal, I, as Proton’s founder, joined together by Jason Stockman (Proton’s co-founder) and Dingchao Lu (Proton’s first employee), have jointly endowed the non-profit Proton Foundation through a donation of Proton shares. These transfers and commitments from the foundation founders make the Proton Foundation the primary shareholder of Proton and make irrevocable our wish that Proton remains in perpetuity an organization that places people ahead of profits."

    They rolled out lumo chatbot. I just wanted decent linux support for VPN and drive, especially as a years-long visionary-tier supporter. I overpaid for years because I shared the same vision but its was always a second class experience on Linux.

    I've enjoyed Proton email, calendar, and VPN. So that's only 3 out of 10 Proton services I use while paying for visionary.

    I had poor experience with the password manager at launch so I moved back to bitwarden/aegis. And I despise Proton Drive its best described as cryogenic deep freeze not functional cloud storage. I've had a much better experience with Filen.io

    Key Points:

    • A bot regularly scrapes 4.1 million jobs directly from company websites and uses ChatGPT to summarize and categorize each job.

    • Doesn't allow companies to post directly

    • Bans recruiting agencies and 3rd party consulting shops (especially the offshore ones)

    • There is a filter for "Easy or Lengthy apply" that lets you filter out applications links to sites like Workday, ICIMS, Taleo, and all the other shitty ones.

    Why I like it so far:

    • Your saved jobs are all on a single infinitely scrolling page (as opposed to LinkedIn that only shows you a few of your jobs per page

    • Boolean filters- easily customizable boolean filters

    • Saved searches and a daily digest of your saved searches to your inbox

    • No promoted jobs like LinkedIn, no recruiter is posting jobs here, no shitty companies like Agoda spamming the board with Bangkok jobs listed in the wrong city.

    Overall my job hunting process is much more streamlined. I created a few saved searches based on boolean filters and filtering out lengthy applications like Workday, then saved a bunch of jobs and hid the ones I don't like. The time savings is substantial and really fast and easy because of how streamlined the site is and also because of the lack of recruiter posted spam jobs and irrelevant 'promoted' jobs.

    I was able to search for and apply for around 25 jobs in the time it takes me to find and apply for 10 on LinkedIn.
