Building up Canada's industrial capacity to build things is exactly the kind of "return on investment" I had in mind. There are better ways to do that than buying loads of military hardware that will sit in warehouses while it goes slowly (or perhaps quickly) obsolete. You know, unless we're aiming to gain any possible advantage no matter the cost in a war that's going to start next year or something.
Ottawa pledging to send one-third of Canadian-made drones to Kyiv
One third? It ought to be more like nine tenths. Producing a lot of drones is a pointless waste of resources unless they're going to be sent where they're needed. When it comes to national defence of Canada itself, research and development of better drones might provide a much better return on investment compared to actually producing them in quantity.
Water is like that, but then so is every other molecule and atom that's temporarily part of your body.
maybe Windows 13 will be a good one.
What with all the controversy, it seems like the perfect time to introduce a new time zone concept that plays to the short attention spans and love of random novelty that the new generation of clock users are known for. Let's adjust the clocks forward and back throughout the year by five minute intervals each fortnight, to keep the start of daylight hours as close as possible to 6:30 am.
With modern technology there's no reason to limit ourselves to only time zones that change as you go east and west — we can have a whole patchwork of different time zones depending on latitude, elevation, and local custom.
To keep it even more interesting we could make the time change by a random amount of minutes each time, announced three days in advance. There will be no more artificial division between time zones. Every time you go anywhere you'll need to take into account the time difference, making the world feel so much more alive and connected. And everyone who wants to wake up at 6:30 every day can simply use the sun for their alarm clock.
I'm sure the naysayers will be able to find some kind of downside to this arrangement, but experts agree that the boost to morale and productivity will be so great that pretty soon everyone will get used to the clocks changing and it will seem like too much work to change it back.
Python is fine, or maybe Java. They're both widely used and therefore "versatile" — because what matters there is not the language itself but the libraries and such that are easy to find and use. Python is probably easier to get started and do fun things with, but Android apps are typically Java which might make a difference since you mentioned mobile apps.
The only legit reason to use javascript is if you need something that runs in a web browser. Unless you do need that, pick a better language.
I guess that means China has won the AI race. Nice try rest of the world but it's all over now, you can turn off your datacentres.
Strange but probably true: Somewhere in the world, there are people who feel nostalgia for the Annoying Orange.
The other one's for left-handed people.
If the entire global economy cannot run without oil products then the entire global economy needs to be replaced. It's kind of a big project, I know. Should've started thirty years ago. There's not much time left to get it done.
