Unfortunately that's not how it works. Once you have a sufficiently large userbase, the network effects are enough to sustain them. A ton of people use facebook still and that has been a logged-in experience forever. Same with instagram.

    Fediseer suspicious instances endpoint deprecated due to decommission of the fediverse.observer (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
     

    Hey peeps. Unfortunately it seems the fediverse.observer has been abandoned. This service was what the fediseer was using to detect suspicious instances, based on active users and posts. There's also fedidb but it's API doesn't export the data required. This means this feature has to be deprecated for the time being.

    For now all requests to the /api/v1/instances endpoint will return an empty result so as not to break any integrations. The header will also report "Deprecated: true", to hopefully alert anyone not seeing this message.

    The rest of the Fediseer functionality remains unaffected.

    We haven't been posting a lot in this comm lately, but we've been still hard at work. I wanted to announce our latest release which includes an all-new interface for generating images via the AI Horde, this time hosted and developed by us directly: https://aihorde.net/generate/image

    There's a ton of improvement on the backend as we support all newer models (Anima, Krea2 etc) and we're still complete free after 4 years of service.

    If you don't have access to a powerful GPU, feel free to use the AI Horde. And if you have any idle GPU, no matter it's power, feel free to become a volunteer as well!
