I'm not sure they know what "liberals" are in that post.

Social liberalism, is a political philosophy and variety of liberalism that endorses social justice, social services, a mixed economy, and the expansion of civil and political rights, as slightly opposed to classical liberalism which favors limited government and an overall more laissez-faire style of governance.

Someone who wants to add move rules that the government has to implement is not a liberal. It's the opposite of expanding civil and political rights.

Probably copyright infringement depending on the license. Get a lawyer to send them a nice message (or just threaten them that you'll get a lawyer) and that's that.

    Thanks.

    1. You could've copy pasted that here. It's much easier to read than a screenshot and people can also search for it.
    2. That text is to convince somebody who knows how federation could be useful to the platform, but it doesn't answer my original questions:
    • what exactly should be federated?
    • which problems could be faced?
    • how could they be resolved?

I don't know much about fan-fiction, but I imagine it works like this:

    • there are members of the platform
    • every member can publish their own text
    • every member can rate another text and leave comments behind

Do publications have to go into a certain communities? If so, that would translate very well to communities on lemmy. Otherwise it would be more of a blog-like thing.

Regardless of how they are published, how would content from other servers show up on the fan fiction server? This post for example, how would that show up on the fan fiction server? If it shouldn't how would it be filtered out and does the Activity Pub thing allow for some kind filtering?

Then we get to ratings: lemmy has upvotes and downvotes, mastodon has... stars? How would that translate to fan fiction ratings? Can servers change their rating systems? 1-5, 1-10, 1-100? How would you solve that?

A fan fiction server shouldn't all of a sudden start seeing posts from !politics or from pixelfed, I imagine. Then it wouldn't be fan fiction anymore.

You have to come up with a fleshed out suggestion. I don't believe you need to understand every technical detail, but you need to conceptually try and understand the different platforms and think what it would mean for them to communicate with each other. With that, you will have a point of discussion for the developers of the fan fiction server's software.

LMAO. So you never sent an email to a service using google or microsoft? You've never communicated with somebody that has an email client that summarises their messages for them? You think that AI is only trained on Google customers. Your brain must be gigantic!

The UK’s tax authority is assigning dedicated “customer compliance managers” to more than 200 billionaires as part of a crackdown meant to raise £500m for the public purse.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) said it had for the first time compiled a list of billionaires who are required to pay tax in the UK, regardless of whether they formally live in the country, to tackle a “wealthy tax gap” caused by those who do not pay what they ought.

If you're an EU citizen, sign the initiative so that it can be brought before the EU commission. The ECI is legally binding. Objectives We, the citizens of Europe, demand access to housing that is affordable, sustainable and fair. We see and feel it every day: workers who can no longer afford the city they build, young people who cannot leave their parents' home, tenants pushed out of their neighbourhoods after renovation, empty buildings while people sleep on the street. The current housing market is putting profit over people and the planet. Europe's buildings are expensive, empty and broken. But it does not have to be this way: the buildings exist, and so do the approaches to make them affordable. What is missing are the rules: USE Regulate short-term rentals and vacancy. Convert empty buildings, like vacant homes and offices, into housing. Create incentives and fast permits to make renovation the first choice.

INVEST Ensure public money serves people not speculation. Reform fiscal rules so governments can invest more in housing. Create an EU housing fund.

PROTECT Set enforceable standards to keep housing affordable and sustainable. Keep people in their homes during EU-funded renovation. Establish an EU Housing Agency to govern transparently.

We call on the EU to act and people to sign!
