Appreciate the honesty and reply.

Finding your PS aggressive myself, especially since I tried to scrub my comment free of aggression. Definitely failed on that. This is a very charged and hot-button topic for me. Sorry.

Probably going to abandon this account and become @andioop@piefed.social or piefed.zip, because they have a nice filter on posts and I'll use it so I can actually browse programming.dev without having to see the many, many LLM and AI and vibe-coding posts and comments (whether for or against) that clearly get me upset and unable to communicate in a way that people are okay with. (Well, maybe it can't filter out the comments, I forget, but I know it does posts.)

Thanks for not getting into personal insults despite not liking my comment. It's one thing I really don't like that Fedi often does.

(my goal: trying to express my frustration too, I'd feel like a pushover if I did not and just swallowed it. But also trying to de-escalate the situation and learn from how I still came across aggressive to you, because I have always gotten along with people and making anyone feel bad is generally something I'd like to avoid.)

I honestly don't understand why, on posts of people trying to avoid AI and LLMs, people often post something to the effect of "get on board or get left behind," "it's inevitable, we can't resist."

Most charitably, for your comment specifically, it's just what your brain went to after wondering your first paragraph. This is, after all, an open discussion forum and on-topic musings are normal, even if they dissent from the view being presented in the OP. Or you're trying to save us all time and effort spent on what you genuinely to believe a pointless resistance.

Least charitably? We already have the powers that be, billions of dollars, and bosses already telling us that narrative and it feels very bad to have it repeated, to just give in, in a space we're trying to use to escape it at least for another day, by "one of us" (a programming.dev user) too. And because you have an opinion different than me, because every frustrated search I make on "why are people trying to push AI" or similar topics returns floods of articles not about my search but on instead how to get anti-LLM people to change their minds and use it, because people want to make decisions by their own power instead of feeling manipulated into it by others and me knowing so many people want to change my mind on this? I really don't like your comment and genuinely wonder why you posted it—can't help but be suspicious. But hey. At least I didn't downvote because I really don't like what you said!

Above paragraph probably looks like a very passive-aggressive way to accuse you of bothood or astroturfing. Don't mean it that way, but I also know I'm a bit overly credulous and trusting.

Please let me know if this should be posted somewhere else, and remove it if it does not go here.

Sometimes a camera just needs a sock.

The Flock Sock is a slip on cover designed to help protect a Flock camera from the harmful radiation of the sun. Your city spent their very own hard earned tax dollars scattering these cameras everywhere to keep you safe, all it cost you was a little privacy. The very least you can do is help protect these valuable civil servants from getting a bad sunburn.

Promo'd !deshittification@thebrainbin.org in !newcommunities@lemmy.world and was informed this community exists. Probably should talk about if we want to keep them separate, or consolidate. And if we want to consolidate, to this lemmy.cafe community or to thebrainbin.org.

paging @auster@thebrainbin.com, the mod over there, and @cloudless@piefed.social @cloudless@lemmy.cafe, the mod here

State of affairs for technology seem bad? But what is being done to change it? And what could be done by you so it changes at least for yourself?

A community to talk about the reversal of enshittification, be it news, actions that could be done, etc.

And my favorite rule of the community:

If you must talk about enshittification, please include how someone could reverse it; otherwise, post it elsewhere

Not the mod or creator. I just post there. Home instance is programming.dev, see so many enshittification and LLM war posts even after unsubscribing to communities that post them a lot like !Programming. More than a little frustrated that An Enshittification Happened gets 500 upvotes and tons of engagement, but this little community telling you How To Resist Or At Least Partially Reverse An Enshittification (whether that be an overall strategy thinkpiece on what actions could happen at a macro level to help stop it, or a how-to guide for your personal device/experience) averages 20 upvotes. So I figured I'd try to do something about it and promo it instead of just being angry and doing nothing.

Made it because reversal should still be possible, and although there's !enshitification@slrpnk.net, other than its "positive monday" rule, the deshittification aspect isn't covered by their rules/guidelines (nothing against their community, though).

Figured it'd be a nice counter to everything online being the five big websites and screenshots of them.

Every weekday, I send one link.

No lists. No hot takes. Just one URL worth seeing.

I present websites with minimal framing and let you decide what they mean. Sometimes I'll add a brief note when something stands out, but the conclusions are yours.

Along the way, it entertains, surprises, and points to corners of the internet that are still alive.

Sometimes it's old. Sometimes it's obscure. Sometimes it's something I made myself.

I'm lucky enough to sometimes take public transit that publicly posts its data on arrival times and the like. Have been working on a script to tell me when there's a track change (which changes where I need to wait for the train) because I'm a lazy person who wants to just have a notification fly across my phone screen instead of actually checking on the website. Currently working on testing some functionality before dumping it on my Raspberry Pi. I usually work on this while on the transit, but hopefully I'll do some of it this weekend.

Also would like to get working on the bog-standard baby coder personal project habit tracker, to make sure I remember how to do front end, back end, etc. I've learned I am more likely to use a system I built for myself. We will see if I get to it!

I finally open sourced my game!!! I was mainly working on getting it a better title (it still may change in the future) and figuring out licensing.

This game comes from me playing with the minecraft mod computercraft and my friend pondering the idea "what if you played the game from a bedrock box by only controlling a turtle" and everything just kinda spiraled out of control from there. The game is in a very bare bones state, just with a basic interpreter for Hive--, the truly god awful programming language you use to command your workers. The automation aspect of the game is very much meant to encapsulate both the diegetic resource gathering and processing you do as well as the tools you create to make writing the code easier. It's very much not a game for most people and isn't trying to be commercial or have a large audience. This is solely a game for people who are as autistic about programming (and slightly insane) as I am.

You can keep track of development using the git.gay
