Yeah seems like it's stupidly obvious. He used to talk as a strong progressive. Then he realized really fast that progressives don't have a history of having sympathy or sticking by rapists, and he realized that if he wanted any hope of having any one on his side, he needed to change to the people that will stick by a rapist as long as he attacks the people they want to attack.

It's stupid on so many levels... yeah first and foremost basically everything about space is terrible for data centers.

What are the 3 things a data center needs.

Power, cooling, good internet connection. Obviously power is complicated as heck, yeah solar is a bit more direct, but also hits total blackouts when it winds up in the shadow of things... and shielding etc... from all the radiation is a pain and a half, solar pannels will need to be drastically bigger and heavier than their earth counterparts, which is expensive as hell to send up there.

but the harder part... cooling. People think of space as cold, but that's innacurate... there's no air to be cold... things stay at the temperature they are... if you have something constantly pumping out heat... it's insanely difficult to get the heat to radiate out.

probably, but don't you know, everything in the cloud is the FuTuRe!! owning things yourself is the way of the past, it's like physical disks you can resell or something.

Sad thing with the exception of price, it's probably not that far off that most average people's usages will be similar. but yeah the idea of paying by the hour or cpu grade etc... for a computer is going to suck... and be far more expensive for gamers, hobbyists etc...

No, they just enabled Chinese LLMs to be the forefront of reverse engineering. Because people will do what they want to do.

Their goal is simple... everything they are doing right now is striving to make the US ban individual hardware.

Chinese models are open, anyone can get them... stopping the flow of data on private computers is impossible. Hardware however is getting more expensive, hardware manufacturers are already deciding to move out of the consumer market on their own. The US government is already establishing laws to prevent shipping foreign hardware into the country.

Altman's giving the game away when he does this "it's so sad that all this ram is sitting around in people's home computers unappreciated when it could do so much more in a data center".

The idea is to sell the message "AI is out of the bag, and it's world ending technology. Basically they are going to imply that the guardrails in their data centers are the only thing that's preventing all AIs from destroying the software industry, and teaching teenagers to build bombs and hacking the CIA, and the only possible response would be to stop all direct to consumer hardware sales with anything more than the bare minimum needed to stream a PC out of a data center.

He's anti the government doing things to help regular people. Health care etc... He's pro military marching in the streets arresting anyone that hurts his feelings. Looking at McVeigh's background, the KKK membership would have earned him some grace. but his big thing was thinking the police overstepped, which makes me think even as a racist... McVeigh were around today he'd describe ice raids as further tyrany.

from what I've heard there's a style of sorts called "quiet luxury". Basically no huge branding, look simple, but more of a timeless look. Look up Celine or "the row". typical clothes that look simple, have a major reputation among old money people, and yeah looking at thousands for basic clothes that... well quite simply don't stand out.

If that is the case why are they allowed to own a pet or have a kid?

The psychology of abusers of any kind is well beyond my understanding. Far as the "why are they allowed, obviously it's they haven't been caught or enforcement didn't do their job right. Laws are weak, enforcement is selective... and unfortunately the people who do enforce, have a tendency to be the kind of people that are more likely to sympethise with finding enjoyment of exerting control of people or animals that are not in a position to fight back.

You ask me this in 2022, I’m here for AOC 100%, In just sour on how my party treated Kamala. I don’t trust them to do AOC justice in a campaign after that.

I think with Kamela it's a lot more complicated there though. She basically had the drawbacks of both being a newcomer and an incumbent at the same time.

Lets be fair, no woman can make a guy have an affair...

The real praise goes to Ethan Klein, for taking down Ethan Klein. Best thing he ever did.

Much like Jimmy Carr's old joke. You can say a lot of bad things about Hitler, but you have to admit one accomplishment that if anyone else did it it would be considered such a good thing that it can erase almost anything bad... He killed Hitler.

Depends on the comercials, but most likely it's that most things vary by location. Food and services they are running a national comercial when each individual store has pricing ability. Other products, probably still the pricing changes. IE lots of factors may cause them to raise or lower the price. Comercials only goal is to subtly get into your brain so you are biased towards them when you make the decision later.

To me it's going to wreck the economy one way or the other.

either it matches it's hype and it recoups it's trillions of dollars invested via taking half or more of the countries jobs for only half our sallaries. Or it's going to implode and all of us are going to end up desperate for work when the financial crash wrecks everything 10x harsher than we've ever imagined.

To me the AI fear wouldn't be as bad, if we were further dipping our toes in. UBI or an economic system where we didn't have to work to live. Of course in america we're seeing the opposite as they are adding work requirements to food stamps, medicaid etc...

Well mainly what I'm meaning is of the suspicion side. Yes the fact that you can't have an election while bombs are dropping on your soil is logical, But there's an additional caveat there, The implication is that a leader could start a war. IE if a country attacks it's neighbor, then declares the they can't have elections because their neighbor may be dropping retalitory strikes. You'd conclude maybe the leadership started the war just to avoid elections.

and whether it works that way or not, he seems really to miss the idea of to my knowledge of the "they were invaded" an enemy is specifically attacking them on their soil.

Even if we 100% give the anti ukrain group on here the full benefit of the doubt, say they are all nazi's etc... there's no form of the story that implies they were going to attack russia.

I do have to question the core concept though, consider this just me trying to make sense of the logic. I'll admit I've only understood the 2 ends of the camp, I was raised a fundamentalist, and really didn't have much of a mid point from that to atheism.

To me the idea there is like saying "I'm a big fan of Darth Vader", but I'm not a fundamentalist, I know star wars isn't literally true, I don't consider him to have blown up planets or built death stars.

IE then comes the question. There's only star wars materials to even imply a vader ever existed, and if you don't believe in that... in what meaningful way does vader exist? Or more importantly how do you know ANYTHING about him. IE what does it mean to "believe in darth vader", but I don't think he did most if any of the things in star wars.

I could see "I believe in a god, but don't think there is any way to know anything about him, I just feel like the world was made", that I can understand. But the second you slap the label of an existing religion, how do you not inherit the baggage as well. Because well what else is there, why would I assume the bible has more godly information than the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. If I'm not ascribing something in it to be believed to be true. Whether you go with the moral parable or literal truth, say a story where god tells his people to go into a city and kill all the men women and children, and they refuse and god punishes them until they do... whether it's true or not, the moral of that story is "do what god says, even if your personal morals tell you it's horrible". The message is what's awful today.

Honestly not everyone will agree, but personally I can't see any flaw in using AI to read through your code and point out security flaws. It's going to happen regardless of whether you initiate it. It's not like us sys admins are going "well I'm not going to patch the dirtyfrag vulnerability because it was discovered with AI". I'd say knowing if AI can find a vulnerability in your code, is just a requirement right now.

Mentioned in a different post on that, but I did phrase my statement badly

IE I meant to say I find the concept of a mixed marriage in the case of people who believe, salvation = belief, and those who don't believe are damned, is crazy. not to imply all religious believe salvation = belief.
