Thats crazy, 28 hot dogs? You will be out before the movie is even halfway done.

Why would anyone pay $8 for a hot dog?

People, do not pay $8 for a hot dog, are you insane?

You can buy 8 hot dogs and 8 buns for $2.50. Why the hell would you pay $8 for one hot dog? You can't wait two hours to have a shitty hot dog?

What kind of otherworldly paradise do you live in where the hot dogs and buns can be purchased in equal numbers like that?

The nearest supermarket to me stocks both buns and hot dogs in 4 or 5 packs. They alternate between the different packages. Except if it's a 4 pack of buns, then you get 5 dogs and vice versa. I suspect it's done on purpose, to force you to buy 20 dogs and 20 buns to equal it out.

If there are 6 buns and only 5 hot dogs, and you want to eat 28 in one sitting, you can make 28 and have 2 ready at home.

Or you can just... Use them for other things? I'm not American so the ritual if the hotdog isn't something very serious for me. Hope I didn't say anything too heretic

The problem is that you have to get your hot dogs from home into the theater, and that's trickier.

I once knew a guy that had two hot dogs for lunch every day. He brought them to work in a Thermos, and when he took them out at lunch, they were still hot. He brought a couple of rolls, squirted on some mustard, and that was his lunch.

So sneak in a few dogs in a Thermos (you could probably use one of those big Stanley tumblers), and a few buns, and some mustard packets, and save yourself some money.

Plus some warm pork tea to sip throughout the day. Refreshing.

That's hilarious disgusting, but he always had them in his Thermos loose. He'd just turn it over and shake them out.

There is something disconcerting about watching hot dogs pour out of a Thermos. You know what's coming, but as soon as the dogs appear, your brain screams "PENIS!"

What theater lets you bring a large Stanley thermos in!? Even if I just have coffee, I have to be sneaky with it...

I just walk in with it, nobody questions it. If they did, I'd just tell them that I'm going to buy a Coke, and pour it into my cup.

My son walks into movie theaters with a tote bag of stuff that he bought on the way. In NYC, nobody questions it, people are walking around with their stuff all the time.

$2.50 for both? I am not eating the bottom of the barrell ones. It's like $3 on sale for a semi decent pack of hot dogs, and $2 min for ok buns. The only ones i can think of that are around a dollar are the bar s brand and those ahould not be eaten by anyone. They are terrible.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional 28 hot dog snack, but I'm not paying $8 apiece. That's insane.

Haha hot dog but seriously $49.46 is too goddamn much for just the tickets, popcorn, and drink, and I believe those prices. For $10 more I can get two tickets to a live show and sneak in booze and weed, fuck your movie which I probably don't even want to torrent since they only do remakes and big IP now.

Diet != caloric intake. It's a bastardization of the term born out of the dieting craze. Diet means the proportions of food an animal eats.

I used to really love the cinema experience but I’ve only gone maybe twice in the last ten years. It’s not the price, which I agree is ridiculous. It’s because there is no longer anything worth the cost. Plus at home with my giant TV I can pause to go pee and eat anything I like.

My son has an 85 inch TV, and more and more, he has been questioning his reasons for going to the theater. He's in an apartment, so he generally listens to movies with headphones, so the picture is better, the sound is better, so what's the point of going to the theater?

Well even without the glizzy splurge you are talking $50 to have two people see a movie, so yeah the underlying truth behind the joke is still the same.

I'm so happy there's a dozen movie theaters in my area that sell like $4-8 tickets and food is also relatively inexpensive.

Where The national brands are charging $15 a show and food is Stadium prices.

That's only 14 hot dogs per person. Totally reasonable for two adults or six kids in trench coats.

This is why I don’t go to the movie theater anymore, Jesus Christ. Eight bucks for a hotdog?

What kills me is the popcorn is always incredibly stale. Even if they pop it there, it's from 10yo kernels and is all chewy instead of crunchy.

I get that prices go up, I'm not terribly mad at $15 tickets. Hot dogs have no business being over $5. The butter and container cost them more than the corn. The soda is maybe $0.75, cup included. If I could take the kids to a flick for a reasonable price, we'd go every fucking week.

Okay, well that really sucks. I thought I had the undisputed world record for most hotdogs in my mouth at the same time while watching the movie A Minecraft Movie but now I'm not so sure.

I think it's been years since I've seen a movie at a theater other than the drive-in.

We go to the drive-in for their movie marathon each year. $13/person. It's dusk to dawn so you can see five movies.

I'm the dad, so I pay for everyone: about 8 people in four cars.

I probably spend a few hundred on food and T Shirts (they sell tie-dyed shirts with custom art every year, so I buy a shirt for everyone in our group).

It's definitely a better experience and more fun than the best indoor theater.

This is why I always try to get to the theater early, so when I come out of the show I paid for, there is still time to sneak into another movie.
