With the number of politicians/mayors who get killed each year in Mexico, how in the hell is someone allowed to get that close to her? Holy shit.

Mexican here, this was an act. She was in a great deal of political pressure because a prominent politician/activist not associated with the regime of the ruling party, Morena, was killed and she tried to minimize it.

AMLO, the former president, founder of Morena, used to do this ridiculous acts too. Somehow a rando could walk to him taking a (fan) letter out from from his jacket, and hug him, in national TV, while his massive security team did absolutely nothing. Claudia Sheimbaum also has a massive security apparatus, this doesn’t happen without them allowing it.

The guy apparently has appeared in older videos as part of her security team, and in some angles you can see he has a holster. We Mexicans joke that all the randos doing these ridiculous but very convenient acts have an army haircut. So far it has held true, your kids do better acting at the spring festival.

Just as people demand Trump to stop distractions about the Epstein files, people here demand Sheinbaum to stop distractions and solve the public execution of Carlos Manzo by the cartels.

If the cartels wanted her dead, no amount of security would save her. She's only in that position because the cartels allow her to be in that position.

    C. G. P. Grey's "Rules for Rulers" is illuminating on that front, but I don't think you mean soft power. I think you mean gangsters. And I think that most US presidents avoid such a thing by virtue of being the C in C of the biggest military on the planet. Though maybe they get a little bit of it from the Pentagon, I dunno.

I already did. Go to reddit, look at any "AITA" post and look how its worded. How the language flows. You can see the fingerprints of an AI constructed sentence. Theres an uncanny valley feel to them. It sounds like something a person would say, but its more deliberate. Practiced. Vague.

"Absolutely disgusting.(vague outrage) This is such a massive issue here in Latin America(region tag virtue signal), I hate how scared I have to be all the time of the men around me.(personal vulnerability + generalised fear + gender violence)". Its all very emotional, but vague. Lacking context to connect to the OP. You could copy and paste this, maybe change the region, and you can apply to any post about sexual assault. But fuck me, it sure does suck up the upvotes, dont it?

My boobs got groped in public the first year they were appealing to men. I didn't even realize what had happened at first.

Edit: I'm trans and my boobs became first attractive to men in my 40s. The incident I'm describing happened in the US.

It doesn't need to be fine to do. It just needs to be doable without consequences. Even if just 1% of men are shitty enough to do it, that will be enough for almost every woman to suffer from it.

I really liked the "yes all women" hashtag response to the "not all men" one. Pointing out the near universal experience of women being harassed (or worse) by a man at some point (often multiple times) in their life.

Dont know why, since it too was a lie. Across the world its around 50%, which still aint great. But its not all. People really need to stop talking in absolutes, we arent sith for fucks sake.

To me the "dealing in absolutes" here is insisting that the phrase "yes all women" can't be used if even a single woman hasn't been harassed because it's a "lie" rather than actually listening to what the women are saying and the point they're trying to make.

  • source

If the point your trying to make requires a lie, then its not a very good point. Is it? If a single man is raped by woman, can I then say "all women"? If a single man beats his wife, can I say "all men"? If a single American is fat, rapes women and is elected president, can I say "All Americans"? Are you starting to see the issue yet?

When you say "all" you invite people to say "well actually..." and then back that up with stats that make the claim that all woman or all men or all Americans is bullshit. And we stop talking about the actual issue, kinda like whats happening now. So maybe, instead of the hyperbole, just state the facts and let them do the heavy lifting instead of the bullshit that leads to so many online arguments. No?

Sounds nothing like that. "Black lives matter" is a focus on the unjust treatment of black people by SOME police officers in the US. "All lives matter" or "Blue lives matter" is dumb shit by people who dont get the "focus" part.

Saying "All" is why we have women scared to walk the streets, even though the stats dont back up that claim. Only 25% of sexual assaults on women are done by strangers. The other 75% is done by people that they know, friends and family. When you say "all" and its not "all" youre doing a disservice to the topic. The stats say that women in are in far less danger during the walk home than they are when they get home. Which is something to actually talk about, instead of all the focus being "on the streets".

    Detailed and accurate information matter.

I never said that. But not shocked that you cant read.

Ok, lets play your dumb as fuck game.

"All black men" In 2023 over 28% of all rape and sexual assault arrests were black men. So according to your own logic, you get to say that "all black men are rapists"....

All immigrants are stealing our jobs! In 2023, about 17.9% of employed workers in the U.S. were immigrants. Sure sounds like "all immigrants are stealing all the jobs...

All teenagers are lazy!!! About 9% of teens aged 16‑19 in 2022 in the U.S. were neither enrolled in school nor working. Sure sounds like "All teenagers" to me....

All men are rapists!!!!! Best estimates are that between 1 and 5% of men are rapists. I guess that means we are all rapists then...

All women have been raped or sexually assaulted!!!! Actually its 21% of all women that have said they were raped/someone attempted to rape them... ALL WOMEN!!!!!!!

    Fuck off.

I've been in a lot of blue collar environments in a previous career, and this is definitely something that happens. It's not normative, but you'll usually find a few construction companies or factories or warehouses in an area that employ a much more equally-gendered workforce.

We hire who will come in. Women have proven to be better coworkers than young men because they actually show up and do what they are supposed to. I've been here for nearly a decade, seen folks come and go, and I am less impressed with gen z every time they hire one, he can't show up on time two days in a row and hide all day when they are here, and get fired in a month. Everybody here gets the same chances. Nothing we do here is that hard, it's repetitive, not exciting, but not hard, and we pay above average for the area. It's always attendance that gets the guys too. Make it make sense.

Man, that woman got screwed over. Used as propaganda to rally women into factories, then after the war swept off and told to do "women work". I really do not understand how society can claim women are inferior, see them constantly prove otherwise, use them as necessary, then dismiss them quickly after. Countries have seen queens for centuries, and somehow the other women of those countries are deemed less than men.

Journey level construction worker here. Your statement is simply incorrect. This fight has been going on for decades. The EEOC did a report on this a couple years ago and found that women and black people either flatly denied work or are subjected to widespread discrimination, harassment and violence. I’ve seen years of this behavior everything from sexual assault to threats of lynching. https://19thnews.org/2023/07/construction-industry-women-people-of-color-discrimination/

People is talking in México, everybody is saying (including me) that is a smoke screen for the last events that have took place in the country: Waldos' incident in Hermosillo and Carlos Manzo's murder in Uruapan, both happening the same day, the Day of the Dead's eve.

Edit: If really is a smoke screen, Morena is showing us once again that you always can get lower. Only they can use a real problem like women harassment to make people forget that Mexico is mad and we want a real change.

Edit 2: It's already happening: https://www.jornada.com.mx/noticia/2025/11/05/politica/ony-y-onu-mujeres-respaldan-a-sheinbaum-tras-episodio-de-acoso I hate this goverment so much

I’m saying that men have groped women many orders of magnitude more frequently and Occam’s razor should apply. You can turn this into a false flag conspiracy and blame the woman who got groped, on zero evidence Just don’t claim you’re serious about women’s issues if you do. You can’t have it all.

Here Claudia Sheinbaum "is another victim", she felt harrasded, like Carlos Manzo did when he asked for help for its city and was completly ignored.
