It’s on the Project 2025 list. As such, I expect it to fall, like Roe.
Heritage is clearly funding this erasure of what We The People want.

They do and now they have a surveillance state to make sure the riots don’t happen again
And a president who wants to shoot those protestors, and a federal police, answerable to no one, who can definitely do it. I'm giving it a year before we see at least one protest met with overwhelming lethal force.
Within that year I also expect to see MANY ice agents murdered in the streets.
The false narrative that basic rights were earned through "civil debate" has been parroted by right wing talking heads for so long.
Most people are uninformed, and have an impression that rights just kind of happened via peaceful protests or debates, either due to their own ignorance or learning a very whitewashed version of history.
Gosh it is almost like these MAGAts are just doing whatever the hell they want. I have a few things we can do when we get back in power.
when
An optimist!
Not really. This thing isn't going to outlive Trump, and he's very old and not in good health.
Trump is a symptom, not the cause. Im not as optimistic as you
Doesn't matter.
He's holding together the whole GOP by merely existing. Without him as a unifying point, they can't even agree on a Speaker of the House. They'll tear themselves apart. This is very obvious if you know how cults of personality actually work beyond pop culture.
Sure, there will be MAGA Hatters for a long time. They'll mostly be stewing in their basement with a bunch of Nazi paraphernalia and bitching. They won't be a meaningful political force.
The question is, what kind of America comes out the other side?
Funny. That’s not going to happen. Well do the things, vote, but Johnson’s behavior regarding Arizona is his test run on 2026.
So much for individual freedom and small government, huh.
Do you mean that when the concurrence for the overturning of Roe v Wade said that they should also have another look at marriage equality, that meant that this was on the roadmap? Huh. Who could have possibly seen this coming?
I'm sure they'll get around to resurrecting anti-miscegenation laws if their speed run is any indication...
Also, many, many people were trying to warn others about this. The right is too glued to Bullshit Mountain outlets to know anything at all. Of course they are just a lost cause. The "centrists" were actually saying things like "but isn't Project 2025 just a liberal conspiracy theory?" without bothering to spend two minutes to even look.
And of course, a lot of self-styled super-edgy leftists were often lecturing people like myself about why voting for Democrats just furthers the "uniparty". That was when they took a break from getting on their high horse about some minor point about terms, labels, phrases, pronouns and checking for "intersectional" points as to whether anyone was worth listening to in their silly Oppression Olympics game. Goddess help you and you better check your privilege if you were to try to inform them on anything if you scored lower on the intersectionality....sigh. And that's not even getting into the Gaza Single Issue Voters, fuck. Heaven forbid they should use some of this energy to go out and vote, and not a stupid protest vote, either.
So, as you point out - so very many people did see this coming, and a lot of other people felt quite comfortable in ignoring that set of people... 🙄
Well, Trump has taught us that you can ignore the Supreme Court if your party controls Congress. So if there ever is another Democrat president with Democrat control of Congress, just revert all this and ignore whatever the SC says.
We should only be elevating Democrats who make it clear they are ready to play hardball.
We all know that he is not getting out of the white house peacefully
He’s never giving up power.
I thought I never had to hear about Kim Davis again. I never want to hear or think about that toad again. What a shame
The U.S. should revisit if we need a supreme court anymore.
I'll vote for anyone legally dismantling SCOTUS. Also if we can't get rid of the supreme court can we at least move it to the northern most tip of alaska? Nowhere in the constitution does it say scotus has to be in DC.
The summit of Denali
Seekest thou the SCOTUS?
Stay tuned… interracial marriage will be on the chopping block.
Wait until Clarence Thomas comes home from work to his bulldog wife, and tell her that their marriage is officially null and void.
Then there will be a new opening on the Supreme Court.
I will laugh so fucking hard if America bends over while that happens. To be clear I bet they will but I hope I'm wrong and they finally grow a spine.
Would they hear the case if a court clerk said she would no longer hand out marriages for anyone not religious as that is offensive to them?
Or maybe people who are left handed marrying people who are right handed? The abomination!
Where does this bullshit stop?
Government should NOT be interested in marriage. They simply should not care. The MOST they should do is have ready to made contracts if they want to manage divorce, child support, and death wealth distribution. Those are contracts. Contracts are made between consenting adults. The government either lets their citizens enter into contracts or not.
They might just punt it to the states like they’ve been doing. Welcome back to the 90’s.
I won’t be surprised when inter-racial marriage and slavery are back on the docket.
They’re starting with trans, working their way to gay. Trans was their gateway item, it helped get them elected. (They tried gay marriage during campaigning, it didn’t stick, there was too much public support). Even so, now that they’re in, they’re going there.
This is all per Project 2025. They’re not going to touch slavery, but the items with a religious, Heritage mandate will be torn apart.
They’re going to hit hard when they get to women, not just an erosion of legal status but bodily autonomy. Ownership, by men, in terms of loss of legal status in re to pregnancy. Remember, MAGA ran on a reaction to women’s lib.
They’ve already declared decreased fertility, the current 1.6 replacement rate, a matter of national security.
They’re just grabbing more power (and money) and beating the public down into a more complacent state before kicking 51% of the population in the head.
P25 dismantles HIPAA and ends death with dignity at the national level as well. The religious mandates are pretty awful. I do not have much hope that gay marriage will survive the Supreme Court.
Remember, MAGA ran on a reaction to women’s lib.
I consider "maga" to be mostly a nonsense word to give cover to the fact that the Republican Party is full of Republicans. They've hated women's lib for wayyyy longer than they started using that nonsense baby-talk word. I don't think there should be any distinction drawn between the teabaggers that rebranded themselves as "maga" and the Republican Party.
They are essentially the same thing, and have always stood for this kind of stuff, no matter the window dressing they used to put on it before. Their code words like "family values" were not fooling anyone...
“Who am I to stop an enterprising young person from willingly entering into a contract of indentured servitude?”
The first one has already been floated. The second just comes later. They're looking at doing an end run on slavery by declaring anyone a criminal, refusing due process, and sending them to work on a farm for nothing.
Slavery never ended though. Hell, I'm pretty sure it's not even illegal
https://www.history.com/articles/13th-amendment-slavery-loophole-jim-crow-prisons
The 13th Amendment, ratified in 1865, says: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”
Slavery never went away. It's alive and well in the Alabama prison system. They are building more prisons there, too. That way, all the blacks pushed into poverty after no affirmative action can be exploited accordingly.
This world is so bad.
So predictable. The angry assholes hated losing that ruling, as well as losing the culture war around it. That's why they didn't really give up, but switched to harping on bathroom bills and "men in women's sports". The wedge was trans and they were going to hammer on that until they got enough Confederates in office to, yeah, attack trans, but also go after gays, even if, or even especially because of, the culture being against them for it. They hope to deport, imprison, threaten and smash down enough people to reverse that culture war, too, believe that.
They won't be happy until they turn on streaming services or their television or go to the movies and won't have to see any gays, unless it is for comic effect or the like. They definitely don't want to see anything normalized...
This might not be reversed in the near future - maybe. But the weirdoes on the right will treat this just like they did abortion. They won't give up, even if it takes them 50 years to take the rights of others away.
I just have no idea why gays voted for Taco. Or any Confederates for that matter. It just makes no sense at all. I know some gays IRL who have voted for Taco. Twice. But I guess there was actually a group called "Jews for Hitler", too, until the Nazis shut it down...
That’s why they didn’t really give up, but switched to harping on bathroom bills and “men in women’s sports”.
I'm so glad democrats circled the wagons around vulnerable minorities on this one. Can you imagine if they just ignored it and let republicans set the narrative, or worse, ran the "men in women's sports" hate in their own ads?
If all LGBT people were a precient we would be more pro democrat than anywhere but parts of south LA
I am so ready to pack my shit and never come back if marriage equality falls.
Who would've thought having a partisan executive appoint a partisan judge and by approved by a partisan congress would result in a partisan Supreme Court!
My vote is for using a system similar to Tennessee's State Supreme Court. A commission of judges nominate a short list of candidates -> the governor appoints from the list -> after a year, there is a popular election on whether the judge should retain their seat.
For the Supreme Court, I'd modify it to: every federal judge elects the short list with Single Transferable Voting or Approval Voting -> President appoints one -> after a year, the populous has a retention vote. Also limited and staggered terms so appointments are distributed evenly across presidencies; must pass a background check & audit; criminal & civil convictions have mandatory prison time and fines are based off percentage of wealth.
Of course neither party (and definitely not the oligarchs) are going to push for systemic changes that could curb their power, so we all need to be united with a General Strike. In the past these have lasted a few days to about a month; I expect making the constitutional changes needed to save our democracy will take longer and meet greater resistance, so Mutual Aid Networks will be crucial to support the strikers and keep essential services running. You can start by plugging in with the ones in your community, they are already everywhere.
Yep, this was the logical follow-up to Dobbs.
Thanks, non-voters.
Yes, but have you considered this?
both sides
Yes, but have you considered this?
One side.
You're in a mono-party system.
Figure it out.
You’re in a mono-party system.
Lol. Because things are exactly the same when Democrats are in control as when Republicans are.
Looks at the news. Looks out window at armed, masked men patrolling the streets for brown people. Sees the flagrant Constitutional violations. The unbelievably blatant corruption coming from within the White House. The increased racism. Uptick in hate crimes.
Yep, that's actually complete horseshit.
NOT. THE. SAME.
"tHaNkS nOn-VoTeRs"
proceeds to support a party that skipped the primaries, has been anointing unlikable candidates for over 10 years with zero input
"ITs ThE nOn VoTeRs!!"
Maybe your shit party should hold actual primaries where people can select their candidate? Maybe, when in power, they should actually make meaningful change that helps people? Maybe they should actually appoint supreme court judges when given the chance?
Somehow when they aren't in power, they are spinelessly fighting "if only we were in power we could fix all of this" then when they're in power, they are somehow even more powerless "the Republicans keep blocking us".
You got to be a real piece of work to think putting your trust in that party will fix anything. They are controlled opposition and the democracy has been lost for a long time.
Non-voters already know this.
Instead of attacking them, how about you hold your party accountable? They stole a primary from Bernie Sanders twice, and went ahead and eliminated primaries this last time. What will it take for you to look in the mirror and reflect instead of blaming everything around you?
Maybe your shit party should hold actual primaries where people can select their candidate?
Fair. Although they didn't really have time when, a few months out, everyone started freaking out about Biden's age and demanding a new candidate.
Maybe, when in power, they should actually make meaningful change that helps people?
This shows your lack of knowledge regarding this subject. If you review Democrat voting history, bills they have passed, you'd see that they've accomplished quite a bit of value for average Americans. Biden alone made significant strides. They've certainly done FAR, FAR more than Republicans ever have. In my own life, I remember when they gave me affordable healthcare through the ACA when I had zero healthcare before.
Maybe they should actually appoint supreme court judges when given the chance?
Republicans have blocked them from doing so and people like RBG selfishly held onto her position until the Democrats couldn't replace her.
I think you think Democrats have had ACTUAL TOTAL CONTROL more often and for longer periods of time than they actually have. Because when they don't have total control, they have to convince Republicans to vote with them, which Republicans won't do.
They stole a primary from Bernie Sanders twice, and went ahead and eliminated primaries this last time.
Lol. No they didn't. Where do you get your information? Inside your own head? Democrat primaries were held in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Bernie LOST by not getting enough popular votes. AFTER the 2024 primaries enough Democrat voters expressed enough concern over Biden's age that they offered up another candidate (the VP) without another primary, because it's kind of hard to hold primaries in the last couple months leading up to an election. You can argue that it was wrong to not hold a second round of primaries for that and I wouldn't necessarily disagree.
I guess my question to you is....what alternative do you have? We are literally living the repercussion of people not voting or voting 3rd party because they're upset with Democrats. The repercussion? A fascist party literally waltzed into power and we're witnessing the flagrant disregard for our Constitution and the deconstruction of our Democracy.
Do you think protesting by not voting or voting for a 3rd party that CANNOT win helps make things better? Do you not grasp that the intelligent thing to do is vote for the lesser of two evils and then work to reform that lesser evil by voting out the candidates that won't get onboard with more progressive policies? Political party reform has happened multiple times throughout American history and conservatives just did it, in the worst way possible, to the Republican party over the last decade or so.
And to be clear about the chances of a 3rd party candidate winning. They stand a snowball's chance in hell. Why? Because the 3rd party candidate with the most votes in 2024 was magician Jill Stein, who magically appears right before every election, gets crushed, then magically disappears again. And she got a whopping HALF OF A SINGLE PERCENT of the total votes cast. Proving, beyond doubt, that no 3rd party stands a chance. And, to be more clear, no 3rd party is even trying to become viable. None are doing what's necessary to start winning local and state elections to get more than ZERO representation in Congress.
Welcome to reality. You should adapt to it.
You have only your shit party to blame
Once again, 'both sides'ers.
This is what they were ranting about doing all along. You allowed this to happen.
Hard disagree. Decades of status quo policies as conditions constantly worsened inevitably led to this making it pretty easy to see how the Democrats allowed this to happen.
you'd think this would be undeniable now to even the most smooth-brained liberal... that the DNC/GOP have been playing controlled opposition for each other for decades/centuries, after seeing how the DNC's leadership still hasnt fully endorsed Mamdani for the NYC mayoral race...even though he won the primary by a landslide.
Yet another freedom that Yankees are happily throwing away lmao god it's like watching an entire nation commit self harm hahah
Yeah the Yankees are always focusing on the big name superstars, and not putting enough effort into the fundamentals. They make too many errors, and they have unsuccessful results. It's all about the money with them, there's no real heart to them, and that's why they lose.
Wait, we're talking about baseball, right?
You speak as if all Americans are the same like a hive mind.
Ironically using such sweeping generalities makes you more aligned with the administration taking away our freedoms.
Just going to take the word breaking for it's literal meaning. Seems more appropriate in these times.
Its crazy to think about what an uncle ruckus Clarence Thomas is.
I mean, his nephews and nieces must for sure call this man Uncle Tom.
What a piece of shit this guy has to be to be married to a white woman, and be striking down marriage equality.
Good thing so many of us "protested" the election, what could possibly go wrong, right?
Don't worry bro the files bro. Just release the files. /s
I honestly don't know why people are still harping on this. what's even the point? I know he's on the files, you know he's on the files, everyone knows. so why? do people honestly, firmly, believe that releasing said files will be an a-ha moment that will lead to his impeachment? no of course not. It's such a stupid thing to be concerned about. Democrats file motions of impeachment against this asshole on a nearly weekly basis and it goes no where. like what's the point? oh THIS time it will? no it won't. Guy ignores the courts on a routine basis.
It was silly from the beginning. It was a distraction and either the bots were out in numbers or the crowd swallowed it bait hook and sinker.
The point is his blatant hypocrisy. Just because his supporters don't care means we can't?
This title is all wrong. It’s not “Breaking” news. It’s not being considered. It’s a done deal and nobody will do anything about it. The only thing to decide is when they do it. I guess that is the breaking part, that maybe is mow.
