Collins complained that “everybody ignores” her vote to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial.

“What bigger break could there be?” she asked. “It is never enough.”

While Collins touted her breaks with Trump, she was also a pivotal vote for key parts of his agenda. She provided a decisive vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, despite sexual assault allegations that he denied. And though she voted against Trump’s Medicaid-cutting “Big Beautiful Bill” on final passage, she was a key vote to advance debate on it.

Thanks for overturning rowe you old fart. Now scurry off back to your cave and die knowing history will remember you as the fucking moron who helped advance an agenda that set women's rights back decades.

Despite her whines, the reality is Collins only broke with Republicans when she was sure it would make no difference to the vote outcome. She made damn sure to toe the party line the rest of the time.

And she's wrong, sometimes it is enough: Voters have had enough of Susan Collins.

Exactly, if she could’ve gotten away without voting for Kavanaugh or the Big Beautiful Bill, she would’ve, but the Republicans and Trump needed her vote then, so she gave it to them. A Democrat wouldn’t have gone along with that shit. That’s why she got voted out.

They would have taken away her appointments and she wouldn’t have been able to grift with the appropriations bills and campaign donations. Then she’d have lost her seat earlier when Maine stopped getting its outsized slice.

Or they knew what the FBI had found and straight up blackmailed her. Or she’s just a common republican scumbag. Probably all of the above.

None of Trump's impeachments came close because conviction requires 67 votes in the Senate. His first impeachment only had 1 R vote to convict (Romney) - the total was 48, so they needed 19 more Republicans.

You're probably thinking of Collins being the deciding Yes vote for Brett Kavanaugh, which she was. Despite claiming that she didn't want to see Roe v. Wade overturned.

Random breaks here and there don't count. You need to be consistent. You also don't get points for voting a certain way when:

    a) It would have passed anyway without your vote

    b) It never had a chance of passing even if you voted for it

There was an obvious answer: last time she went up for election, she could have run as an independent and won. If she’d done that, she probably would’ve won this time too.

Trump isn’t the problem; he’s the symptom. The Republican party is a big part of the problem (but again, not the entire problem).

Oh, bullshit. Every time she went against Trump it was managed opposition. She only did it when MAGA knew they already had enough votes, and could let her preserve her "independent" image, and keep getting elected. It's extremely common in any vote, for both sides.

So spare me the whining about your sacrifice. It was all manipulation, and we all know it.

How are you going to protect the country against fascism if you don’t express authority over capitalists and fascists?

Better question: Socialism is a transitional state between capitalism and… what exactly? First hint: Not anarchy. Call me a tankie all you want but you will not get a classless, stateless society without defending it from capitalist oligarch fascists.

See: China, Cuba, USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, Venezuela, Afghanistan

Expressing authority over capitalists, in U.S. parlance, is called regulation. The US just took a MASSIVE step towards reinstituting the regulation that the Republicans spent 4+2 years stripping., so there's hope at least

They're not going to introduce a constitutional amendment to ban capitalism, or whatever magic bullet you're thinking of, but if we're lucky they might pass universal healthcare.

Oh wow. “Constitutional amendment to ban capitalism” is cute. Ok when that regulation doesn’t work in 15 years because republicans are still in power, how are we going to reach a classless, stateless Socialist/Anarchist society ? You really believe institutional capitalist oligarchs are going to just hand power over to the people because we amend or regulate the constitution? The same constitution written by White slave owners?

    Organizing. Strike. Revolution.

For someone who would rather have “Socialist Anarchy” rather than a communist end state, you are pretty reliant on capitalist reforms that, in your own words, republicans can strip away within 6 years, so I ask again: How are you going to achieve this when legislation is stripped by oligarchs?

You’re describing a reality where you rely on fascist overlords to give up power based upon no authority expressed and legal regulation and literally saying “if we’re lucky”. What an incredibly ignorant and weak mindset to have when talking about others rights. “If we’re lucky”… Give me a break. We aren’t lucky. Jefferies is basically telling you as a Blue Voter to give up the idea of free healthcare.

No dude. If we force them. We can not rely on luck. Express authority over your leaders. What you’re describing isn’t even socialist or Anarchist policy, it’s just capitalist reform.

Thousands of people just did years of work to get elected to offices across the spectrum of government and you're sitting at a keyboard telling them it's not good enough.

What is your plan besides that wishful thinking non plan you posted? What ideas do you have to help them? Do you have plans to work with them? Are you going to collaborate with anyone? Are you going to organize? Where's your people, your war chest, your logistical support, your supply chains, your plan.

These thousands of people had a plan, they organized, they protested, they got elected and now they're gearing up to do the job.

what are you doing besides yelling on the Internet?

oh and one follow up question, what the fuck are you going to be doing?

I don't know about that entirely. There's different flavors of everything. We can still utilize the good things from a private economy, but use the tools and framework for socialized safety nets to create a bottom floor for being an American. Then use that as the example for the rest of the world.

It's the carrot and the stick. Not either the carrot or the stick.
