Star Jerry O'Connell remained in the cast for all seven seasons of Sliders, in another timeline where it is the best franchise in the history of sci-fi.

I won't pretend Sliders can hit among the real heavyweights, especially after season 3, but I think it could have. I know we're all sick of remakes, but if there's any show that deserves a second chance, it's Sliders.

Games don't need to be that expensive to make. That's a result of suits pushing everything to be an "epic" blockbuster with absurd graphics over anything else.

I mean my GOTY is Queen's Domain, and it was made by two people on a shoestring budget, and looks like PS1 graphics.

I know, I know, it LOOKS kind of crappy and juvenile, but if you liked the regular non-Heroes Might and Magic series, try the demo.

It's like a throwback to MM6-8's engine, with 3-5's turn-based combat, that seems to have been revealed to the developer in a Nyquil-soaked fever dream.

There's something about how solidly the gameplay recreates MM while the design is so amateur (the dev makes all explosion noises with his mouth) that just makes it ooze a strange sort of charm.

    "It is never enough."

Correct, you betrayed the people to such a degree that it cannot be forgotten or made up for by any means. Kindly fuck off and wither in obscurity.

Fuck yeah, it's harder than the demo led me to think, but it's so good. The flying sword mechanic makes exploration very fun, I've done all kinds of crazy jumps to out of the way ledges or holes and been rewarded with tasty chicken.

Combat feels a little rough at first, stamina management is punishing. But later, when you can throw out 6+ each of 3 regenerating throwing weapons while stamina recovers, it's more comfortable.

I was watching the show because I like John Goodman and Pete Davidson, and my dad used to have some of the comics,. And I hear a familiar voice I can't quite place. Then more parallels to Claire came up and it clicked. If it's a coincidence, it's a weird one.

I've been filling out my emulator collection and thought I'd poke my head into the world of Sega consoles, which I have no experience with.

What classic Master System/Genesis/32x/Game Gear/Sega CD games should I try? I'm more of an RPG guy, but I'll play a good retro platformer or whatever.

What I've found so far from my own research (mostly Genesis):

    • Altered Beast

    • Beyond Oasis

    • Castlevania Bloodlines

    • Comix Zone

    • Crusader of Centy

    • Death and Return of Superman (I just really liked this comics arc)

    • Earthworm Jim 1+2

    • Gauntlet 4

    • Golden Axe 1+2

    • Landstalker

    • Might and Magic - Gates to Another World (I think this is MM2?)

    • OutRun and OutRun 2019

    • Phantasy Star 1-4

    • Shadowrun

    • Shining Force 1+2

    • ToeJam and Earl

    • Ys - The Vanished Omens

What I have no interest in:

    • Sonic

    • Fighting games

    • Sports games

EDIT: I'll definitely take note of any Saturn/Dreamcast recommendations too, but my plan is to start with the older consoles and work my way up.

This is an excellent love letter to classic CRPGs, and quite possibly the best game for people who like intricate TTRPG character building. This has, I believe, all the DLC including the one that includes a standalone roguelike mode, and the one that has a Mass Effect 3 Citadel-type party in the last chapter.

There's a decent modding scene for it too. Here's what you're gonna want to start with:

    ToyBox - https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/8

This one lets you activate tons of QOL features, fix bugs on the fly, and straight up cheat if that's your bag.

    Bubble Buffs - https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/195

This one lets you define a set of buffs to apply to your characters in 1 click. You're going to want this, buffing before fights is essentially mandatory, and gets pretty tedious to do by manually casting each spell after about level 3.

I'm thinking Halfling is a given, 1 level of Nature Cleric to get all armor proficiencies, guidance, and most importantly Shillelagh for the vibe of whacking things with a magic stick.

Then 6 Swords Bard for Extra Attack and several on-theme spells. If I make sure Bard is always my most recent new class, Shillelagh should run off Charisma.

Round it out with 5 levels of some sort of Rogue for 3d6 sneak attack that should play nicely with Durge's invisibility cloak. Swashbuckler plays off Charisma further, but Arcane Trickster gives more spell slots? Thief would give two bonus actions so I still have one after I Shillelagh up.

    Thoughts?
