Big Suze was such a class act that she didn’t even bother to deliver a concession speech. The second she lost, she fuckity-byed it out of there.

BANGOR, Maine — Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) greeted supporters at her election party throughout the night but was a no-show after losing her bid for a sixth term.

Her campaign played Semisonic’s “Closing Time” and began packing up the room without any concession speech from Collins.

Watching some of those exit interviews was just astonishing with the way people were content with Collins but just decided it was time for a change of pace.

I'm telling you. Maine is full of shy, embarrassed conservatives.

Within the scope of the recent PEW Research typology, they're at the very least a mixture of Order and Opportunity Left and Tuned-Out Middle, the former who basically get caught up in the security and immigration bullshit Republicans sling.

It's the older generation electing ghouls because it's the "polite" thing to do or some stupid shit. It's why Florida didn't flip near as hard as everywhere else.

Can we let the hurricanes eat Florida yet or is that considered uncouth/ uncivilized/ a human rights violation. Cause personally I think Bugs Bunny had the right idea.

I'm not sure I'd take all that at face value. If you are a voter that believes you are surrounded by hostile people of a different mind you'd play it off casually too.

Nobody knew what they were walking into at the polls yesterday, for all we knew ICE was going to be out in force (also why a lot of us voted early) and all these people had lives to go back to, with no expectation that it would be the landslide it was. In what is still Trump's US, it's entirely possible some of those exit interviewees kept it deliberately casual just so that no one would have anything to hang on them later.

Exactly. They're not even out of the starting gate yet.

However, I am more hopeful than I've been in a year. I realize the shitbag isn't going to let go "peacefully" or any other way - and he's almost got the military sewed up with most of the leadership treasonous - but damn! It did not expect what happened Tuesday.

I hope they hit the ground running because the ship is brimming full of rats that need scuttling.

They're not out of hot water yet. Establishment Dems could still vote Schumer & Jeffries in as speakers while funneling AIPAC money to undermine the progressive caucus in congress.

They'll end iran war funding and ICE funding on day 1. But I guarantee they'll stop at half measures every time unless Americans keep democrats' feet to the fire.

I agree completely. We're not out of the gate yet and there's going to be bullets, knives, and flung shit from every direction. It's going to take a full frontal effort on part of blue to pull off America - a LOT of spine. It seems we've hired some honest people who'll be excellent public servants. The way it's supposed to be. Yay America. I'm proud of ya!

She really shouldn't care. She's made her money. Solid loot run all the way into old age. She enthusiastically fucked over regular people for massive personal gain. Good job SC! Don't die any time soon!

I've only known one Mainer. But if he's at all typical of the folks up there, the one attribute I'd imagine not going over well among those constituents is laziness. Those are some hard-working mofos.

I hate to say it but don't forget about the Kirsten Sinema / Joe Manchun effect. Dems might have the majority in the Senate but they still have enough lurking Demuplicans silently willing to smear their feces on real reform.

May I suggest the term blue dog to refer to these profligates, no offense but Demuplicans is a mouthful to read and also feels like it's the name of an F tier demon from an SMT game.

Trump, whose net approval rating in Maine was –32 on Election Day and who lost the state to Kamala Harris in 2022.

    Huh? 2022??

Was this article written by hallucinating AI or was there some other vote in 2022? Because 2024 was the election between Trump and Harris.

About fucking time. Collins has always been a spineless empty suit who just voted as she was told. She'd complain on one hand while voting yes to whatever she was complaining about with the other hand.

No more sternly worded letters from you, you fucking witch.

Now you can go fuck off into the woods of irrelevance, or just go as far north as you can and keep going to fucking Canada until you freeze to death the fucking arctic circle.

Once the votes shook out it was by a wider margin than I expected. A 45,000 vote margin, a 6.4% difference.

    Waaaay better than I expected.
