Back when this game came out, I had a PC that was just powerful enough to boot it, but not really fast to actually run it. It was agonizing spotting glimpses of this amazing game hidden underneath 640x480 at lowest settings, with textures and lighting glitching out, freezes interrupting gameplay all the time and the frame rate barely staying in the double digit range.

Two years later, I finally had a computer that was fast enough to run it as intended. It's one of the first games I played on this machine and even though it was no match for Crysis or even most other AAA titles from this era in terms of graphics (although it still looked pretty good at max settings), the interactivity and immersion of the world easily made up for it and was one of the most impressive gaming experiences I had up until that point.

this was the one that most the fights could be solved by kicking people into spiked walls right?

I remember this game fondly. It wasn't revolutionary, but I had fun. I wonder if it holds up.

This was a struggle to play on the Steam Deck when I tried, due to issues with the controls. Hopefully the controller support they mention in this edition solves that.

This could not have come at a more perfect time, as I've recently started playing and enjoying this little gem.
