Today's lesson for Europe: if your national security relies on US oligarchs' tech, they'll cut you off when you most need it.

A lesson that should have been learned decades ago. You cannot trust them to keep their word, therefore you cannot work with them at all. It's not fucking hard.

  • They'll cut you off whenever they feel like it, so assume it's unreliable and act accordingly. We are run by whiny sociopaths that are so rich they control the government and write the laws for their benefit. None of this will change under the current constitution so up your defenses before it's too late.

I would imagine a competent leader planning for this contingency. Take the help of your detractors but be ready to be cut off.

That's what GOVSATCOM and IRIS2 are about. The former being the already operational patched together service the latter is an actually new satellite constellation for this very purpose, going operational in 2030: Sovereign satellite communication independent from US or others, especially for crises and defense purpose.

Late, yes, but I think the message was recieved already a few years ago.
