$2,500 ain't even a calculable fraction of a fraction of a percent for Citibank, but it's more than everything for a lot of ordinary folks. Push people too far and they'll snap.

They don't say, but it's probably the AI-ification of Google Search that done 'em in. That, and I can't remember any particularly better-than-average journalism from Salon since the 2000s.

But with rare exception, the response from the mainstream media’s pundit class has been largely muted, with the vast bulk of the coverage coming in the form of he said/she said, down-the-middle reporting. This is in stark contrast with how elite opinion-shapers responded with uniform outrage in the days after Trump’s also dubious raid on John Bolton, his former national security adviser and a neoconservative commentator, in August 2025. Both are part of a consistent pattern of Trump weaponizing the Department of Justice to attack his perceived enemies, yet only the latter solicited widespread media condemnation.

… The reasons for this glaring discrepancy are likely many: Omar is Black and Muslim, Bolton is white and not. Omar is a woman, Bolton is a man. Omar is considered “far left,” Bolton is squarely in the center-right of elite Washington consensus. Omar is a harsh critic of Israel, and Bolton is among its most overtly and bloodthirsty champions. The reality is it’s almost certainly a combination of all these factors. Writ large, Bolton is a member of The Club, and Omar isn’t.

Wow, thanks for letting me know. I wasn't even aware such a setting existed, and it's the dumbest non-Trump thing I've seen in months.

Ah, well. I've blocked that user at Bluesky, so it won't happen again. Grazi!

I would settle for rule of law, no need for violence. In this matter, for example, there are no reasonable, legal, or constitutional grounds for arrest, so let's have prosecution of the person who swore out a complaint, the judge who signed the warrant, and the cops who made the arrest.

Well, I doubt the benefits, too, but I still take calcium, vitamin C, a multi-vitamin, and pop other pills when I can afford 'em, because this is America, damn it. The food we're offered is generally processed to hell, but I don't have the time, budget, or inclination to make an organic lentil stew every night. So like most folks, I take vitamins and supplements, cuz I figgur there's a slightly higher chance it'll help than it'll hurt.
