I know this will shock everyone here: they ride bicycles in Iowa.

Why would Iowans be so worried about the ballroom too?

    Because they're deeply stupid people.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

I see. This is the passage I was thinking of:

Major Major’s father was a sober God-fearing man whose idea of a good joke was to lie about his age. He was a long-limbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn’t earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major’s father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbors sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counseled one and all, and everyone said, “Amen.”

Major Major’s father was an outspoken champion of economy in government, provided it did not interfere with the sacred duty of government to pay farmers as much as they could get for all the alfalfa they produced that no one else wanted or for not producing any alfalfa at all. He was a proud and independent man who was opposed to unemployment insurance and never hesitated to whine, whimper, wheedle, and extort for as much as he could get from whomever he could. He was a devout man whose pulpit was everywhere.

Because it is built on earth shatteringly large corruption of the President of the common country that influences Iowan lives quite substantially ... oh you meant why someone in Iowa should think it is important to construct that monument to corruption? What do I know, watch some Republican ads, maybe they can tell us.

    RAGBRAI, yes? Awesome!

    https://ragbrai.com/

Since 1973, RAGBRAI, Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, has been a celebrated tradition, bringing thousands of cyclists and spectators together for an unforgettable journey across the state. As the oldest, largest, and longest multi-day bicycle tour in the world, RAGBRAI is more than a ride. It’s a festival on wheels, a showcase of Iowa’s hospitality, and a driver of local economic and tourism growth. Each year, riders from all 50 states and upwards of 20 countries come to experience the charm of Iowa’s small towns, creating lifelong memories and meaningful connections.

But yah, the politician is clearly not lying, and knows what's up.

So, you're saying you don't want those RAGBRAI dollars. Welp, we're more than happy to stop spending that money all the way across your state.

Honestly we probably don't deserve it. I love RAGBRAI (I bike from home to the start every year) and love that we have it, but as the state continues to get redder, dumber, and more hostile to cyclists in general, I'd love to see it move to, say, Minnesota.

We don't ride bicycles in Iowa.

I don't grow or raise any produce in my house. I guess everyone should abandon food and starve.

They are afraid to ride bikes because they'll quickly be run over or have heart attacks from using their bodies for something besides using their bodies to trample freedom & independence.

They're going to be riding soon, once they all realize that the gas prices are never coming back down and this isn't temporary.

We may not have universal healthcare, or low housing costs, or even affordable groceries, but our strong Orange Man can get himself a ballroom and ban bike lanes.

Isn't this the guy who drunkenly wanted to measure his dick against his black roommates because he later admitted he just wants to fuck black girls because white girls are too stuck up?

Whenever I see political speeches with all these sign waving people behind the speaker, I automatically think it's North Korea style propaganda. It looks entirely staged with the exception of the defensive glass box used to protect against American assassins because apparently Americans are now wanting to get rid of this government. And these politicians clearly know it. They know it so well they create this farce of a show.

Lol I swear it's like my username is the actual answer to all the world's problems.
