It's called a day off, not day on.

The trick is to make the stuff feel like things without letting the things feel like stuff.

Ohh my whole unemployment since April! I start work next week and I'm on here instead of finishing my to do list...

Removing distractions helps, from my experience. In my case at least, I usually leave the phone running videos and podcasts I can consume passively, no need to focus on it, on PC I use RSS to quantify the accumulation of posts and stop when I open the posts past that (since I have a backlog there too), and consoles I leave turned off when I'm not playing them.

I used to schedule all these reminders for things I intended to do. They just made me irritated and feel bad as I kept delaying / rescheduling them. I don't do that anymore, for the most part. I've stopped keeping track of the things I won't do. If I think of it, I might take care of it. This only works because I'm now in a relationship with someone who makes sure I do the things that matter most.

As I am on dialysis, I have a nutritionalist on my "care team".

I have tried repeatedly to explain to them that I fucking KNOW what I need to do, it is the DOING that is the issue.

Yes, I have tried alarms. Yes, I have tried post-it notes. Yes, if you can think of it I probably have tried it.

Haven't worked for the last decades, and am still at "oh no" and "I did wanna do chore X" 😁

    I'm overcoming this.

    1. I could do something today.
    2. I know life is pointless and what I do will not be worth the effort.
    3. Let's be honest, I don't want to do shit and I'm okay with that.
    4. Going outside sucks and I'm happy not doing anything.

People are going to disappoint me. Things cost too much. Things make noise. Often times it's too hot. There are cameras everywhere and law enforcement folks are dangerous thugs. The fact is we don't want to do shit because it's not worth doing. Let's just admit it and relax doing nothing until the collapse gets too bad for relaxation.

Have a day off and don't do anything. Fuck it.

It might work great for some, but personally I choose not to drink. Alcohol gives me literally zero benefit, but I will end up with a headache after just one drink, plus it’s empty calories I don’t need.

Ethanol is literally poison, you don't need that. If you really wanted a buzz, THC / CBD is a much better option, and is available in edible form.

Then again, there are other ways to divert yourself than drugs.

I've occasionally used alcohol to wind down a couple times before, but I'd say drinking on all your off days is still something to avoid. Can't risk getting addicted to it, even when [and especially when] alcohol makes you feel more sane.

The only reason I have it sometimes is for the nice flavour pairings when mixing with non alcoholic drinks, but it is best practice to know and care about how much you're drinking.
