Isnt this the same in every democratic country? A political party is an organized group of people who share a common set of goals, values, whatever. They make their own rules, and who they decide to put up for election is entirely up to the organization by the rules they have set up for themselves.

Might be different in the US since you have a two party system and it seems that there is some official involvement in the elections of candidates

To me this sounds somewhat similar to elections that happened in socialist dicatorships. People voted but not much to choose from.

Well. Thats an issue. You can only choose from people whom the organization has put up. Few people participate in organizations/parties.

But you are free to make your own party and nominate who ever you like. So I don't really agree with your statement.

It's easy to complain. How would you organize elections?

It was a bit of tongue in cheek comment...but I agree that a mere possibility of change can restrain the rulers. Those socialist systems fell apart when people had option to disagree.

DO NOT give a dime to ActBlue. They will sell your info off to every single candidate that is running in any election- including ones that aren’t even anywhere remotely local to you.

And once they have you, you cannot be removed from their list even under threat of FCC contact and lawsuits.

The numbers that call/text you are ghosted numbers so blocking them is pointless and the emails are spammed and the source cannot be blocked.

The DNC is about as corrupt and predatory as any scam that’s out there.

Donate personally to the candidate and do not use ActBlue. As it is, it has been suggested to me that I look into starting a class action suit against them.

I hate it because it goes both ways. IE the worse part is it more or less doesn't give a way to get proof.

IE the long and short of it is "we don't have to go to court and spend the money to argue if we ran a fair election, because the law doesn't require us to run a fair primary".

IE it's not "we cheated but we're allowed to cheat", it's "we're allowed to cheat... so we don't have to spend money proving that we didn't". Sadly that's a key problem with the laws in general, or the party system in general.

its telling when THE DNC refuses to do anything about the 16 and 24 election inteference investigation, THEY KNEW, they dint care because they benefitted from it.

Right now, I feel like the DNC is so weak, and the democratic socialism is so strong, I'm hoping for a DSA takeover of the Democrat party, much like the MAGA takeover of the Republican party.

The good news is, the Dems have no plans other than continuing unsuccessful policy to align themselves with corporations, progressives can continue to be successful if we keep at it.

still gonna vote for them over the GOP.

until a truly popular 3rd party candidate can honestly get enough votes. we're stuck with the 2 we have. or until people rise up and take down the system

Or we get ranked-choice voting and other parties are a viable possibility. But of course, neither the GOP or Dems want to lose the iron grip of financing and power.

I know what you're saying, but what you're waiting for as a sign is logically impossible within the constraints you've defined. If no one votes for 3rd parties because they aren't popular enough then they will always be too unpopular to vote for.

    1. Primary progressives in.
    2. General election fascists out.

Do anything else and all you are doing is fucking yourself...and not in a fun way.

Criticism of antidemocratic behavior from the Democratic Party ≠ propaganda telling you not to vote.

Claiming that it is IS, on the other hand, is the equivalent of "vote for the lesser oppressor without comment. Dissent is treason."

Fixed it for you. I call out the bullshit of both parties all year every year. So do most people who aren't party loyalists with blinders on.

bad faith argument is bad faith

Yep. That's what the "you're only criticizing Dems to help Republicans" deflection is. It's a a bad faith argument and a strawman.

So you believe the people that said voters should not expect a fair election because they are a private corporation and can pick the candidates they want, are worthy of being supported?

Given the opposition, yes. Nobody here is saying the DNC is good, or even acceptable. They're saying it's better than the alternative. And frankly, any "they're both the same" talk so close to an election feels highly suspect.

But still voting blue because it's nowhere near as bad as the GOP fascists. And I'm not an easily manipulated fool. Nice try, Russia. Be rational, not idealist. Do best as you can, don'r walk because you can't do it all. You don't get to be god.
