As a kid it was probably my least favorite scene because it slowed things down. As an adult it may be my favorite. A quiet moment among the chaos to contemplate and see things from Cameron's perspective, which is a very skeptic perspective. Is the painting real or not? Is his parent's love real or not? What is real?

The song is also great. Didn't know until a year or so ago that it was a Smith's cover by a group named Dream Academy that did instrumental covers of pop songs.

I don't know what you are referring to. I meant the music that plays during this scene in the movie.

    https://www.artic.edu/articles/826/caillebotte-and-seurat-setting-the-stage-for-masterworks

This article is comparing Seurat 's process with that of Caillebotte, who was of the previous generation and hung out with/sponsored Monet and the Impressionists. (They're not known to have known each other, and Caillebotte was known more as a wealthy collector than as an artist at the time.)

I'm adding it because the Wiki article only tells how the paint was applied but this shows some of the studies and drawings Seurat did in the months beforehand.

And because I think Caillebotte's different process was also interesting.

Reference photo that this painting depictsscreencap from the famous scene of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

I like how accentuated the pointillism in this painting is.

Crazy how the painting's Cameron looks more like Alan Ruck than the still frame. To the point that it has me second guessing if that's a 2nd unit stand-in, and not actually Ruck.

Is this an actual painting someone did of the scene?
