We will either end up with Dwayne Camancho as president, or Lucius Rhyne.
We need The Blackwall badly.

Only if the software stack was GPLv3 licensed (or whichever was the most aggressive version of the license) and the computational hardware was reasonably open as well, preferably completely open like RISC and maybe a fully open UEFI.
I need to trust anything that is going to become part of me.
Every '90s kid remembers this!
I'm not acting like they're innocent either, I don't and won't ever use any of them. But if you are thinking about it from the perspective of geopolitical warfare, the Chinese should doubly not trust grok and the US should doubly not trust DeepSeek. Using the adversaries tool is a fool's mistake outside of R&D.
Everyone conflates "AI model" with "AI platform."
The truth of the matter is that if you are interfacing with the DeepSeek service, you don't have control of the version of the model being run, the hidden system prompts, or any co-agents that might modify output before its sent to the user/service.
The model itself could be completely innocent. It may not have had any weights modified and was trained on honest greenfield data. But we control literally nothing about the environment it is running inside of.
That claim lasted for less than 24 hours
I know, it's been working
I'm so confused. I am on KDE Wayland and have been using push to talk for like a year now. What even is this?
A lot of the centerists you call far right are also getting called far left by the right. Centrists tend to pick and choose left or right or neither on each issue individually and don't pick sides.
Believe it or not, there are right beliefs that are not far right Nazi beliefs, the mundane day to day stuff. Genuine belief in lower government control and lower taxes for example. Unfortunately we didn't see any of that come true with this presidency.
And to be clear, I am a leftist, but one who believes in human free will. As long as you genuinely believe in doing the right thing and not harming others, we can debate all day on what exactly that looks like, but the minute it turns into the usual grift, I'm out.
Microsoft makes a hard distinction between Device-Bound and Synced passkeys inside of corporate tenants. They are in fact two different things that happen to be using the same FIDO standard, and can be stored alongside one another in the same app if it supports it.
Also KeePassXC with the browser plugins works a treat for synced passkeys.
We have been rolling passkeys out at work and have been having to explain to our users the difference between "Device-Bound" and "Synced" passkeys.
Synced passkeys are by nature more vulnerable because they touch the internet. They can be stored in regular password vaults and so on, tosses onto google drive, etc. and then get those compromised, and because passkeys come with an extremely high level of trust, that is a fully busted account at that point. As such, we can't justify allowing synced passkeys on corporate, especially for admin level accounts.
With that being said, for non-work accounts in your day to day life, synced passkeys are going to be the way to go for privacy and data sovereignty, but it moves the onus of protecting that data onto you the user. I am able to handle that, as are many reading this, but a lot of folks do not have the technical prowess to defend themselves. When I am off the clock, I will champion privacy-focused solutions day in and day out. Work can do work things on work's dime and work's time, but they will not touch my personal space - I will not abide it.
I'll be honest - while I would much prefer to use something like Element at work, it is for ethos reasons and not because it is a technically superior product from a user perspective.
I would love for this to draw attention and investment into Matrix/Element, but as it stands the experience is bad. Losing messages in groups due to version upgrades, group ownership and membership is an absolute nightmare, and video calls are miserable if it's more than just a 1:1 call (and for personal use, it is terrible at game streaming, even using something like OBS to facilitate, but this is unimportant for business).
These systems need a lot more work and it sucks to see the Element CEO brushing the complaints under the rug as "growing pains."
Teams sucks, but it is far more functional and consistent at this point in time. Can't wait to fucking ditch it but the alternatives are not great at an enterprise level.
