I finally ran a hardware accelerated ML container for immich.

My immich is in a VPS and my GPU is in my home server. Cheaper to run that than to rent GPU compute.

I can't suggest one for swimming, but this one is intriguing. Wanted to support it, but I hardly wear my own watch.

I redirect all out going dns requests to my self hosted DNS server.

Only one I can't block is DoH. DoT is easily blocked and my firewall picks up on it.

I remember on Reddit several years ago I said that automatic bitlocker is the curse of installing W11 on a laptop.

I got down voted so hard. One comment even said you should be thankful because encrypting by default should be the norm.

But yet if I add any thunderbolt device to my windows before I boot it, it requires me to input my 25 character bitlocker key... that's hosted online within my Microsoft account.

Bitlocker enabling by default without user input is horrible. Hosting the keys online is also horrible. It could be so easy to socal engineer into your Microsoft account.

If you have a really robust Internet connection you can reverse proxy into your home server. Make sure it's SSDs though.

For me I just have 2 people so we share 1tb of a VPS and that satisfies the photos everywhere itch.

So imagine a road named VLAN1000 that has assigned lanes. (Native VLAN 1000)

You got 4 lanes:

1 lane for bikes (VLAN 100)

1 for motorcycles (VLAN 200)

1 for cars (VLAN 300)

1 for busses (VLAN 310)

I want to add another lane for trucks so I add

1 for trucks (VLAN 320)

The road is named VLAN1000. The entire road system from the basement to the top floor is called VLAN1000.

I wanted to add VLAN320 as stated above... But I put in a command saying that the road between the basement and the top floor is now called VLAN320.

Now all of the other traffic cannot go to VLAN1000 because the switch no longer has that VLAN. It only has VLAN320.

Might be hard to follow but this is pretty much how I think of it in my mind.

I did the very classic "sw t al v 320" which effectively isolated an entire floor.
