I have a name that can be for boys or girls. For some reason, most people assume it's a girl's name and act accordingly.

When I was a kid, my parents signed me up for basketball. Someone thought it was a mistake for a person with my name to be on the boys team and moved me to the girls team, without telling me or my parents. I will never forget the embarrassment when I showed up to the first practice. I quit on the spot and didn't play basketball after that.

I like specifying the pronouns.

That's what I do - try the across clues, then the down clues, then jump around to fill in anything I've missed

Sometimes I even try solving with just the across clues or just the down clues for an extra challenge (usually Monday or Tuesday puzzles)

I always read to my kid before bedtime. He started to learn to read while in kindergarten, and I began having him read me one book a night (with a lot of help) before reading to him. He's gotten much better, and now he reads me the same number of books I read to him. I've gotten a few early reader compilation books from target which provide a good variety (though the material quality is pretty terrible - they started falling apart after a few days).
