Im wishing to santa, lol.

But technicaly yes. If i setup a lora mesh setup on my balcony, that connects to my pc. And another lora mesh to wifi interface via esp32, theoretically i should have low enough bandwidth.

Last i checked, a solar panel based lora device would cost 100 eur, i think i can use reticulum that allows working across multiple interfaces. That would be server lora, and then i would get a client lora device would cost like 40.

A typical thin client would also be within 100 ish eur range. This will allow me to have a link to my home mini pc that is hosting a bunch of stuff, maybe i can run matrix bridge so i can access signal and whatsapp. And some basic maps with actual maps cached on thin client and only the public transport api communicating. Then the only other thing i would need would be a way to listen music which probably needs to be implemented somehow.

The only problem is that, i have no clue how much the bandwidths going to be, and how high would i need to put the device etc. And right now, its not a financially wise decision to spend 2-3 hundred eur and hours and hours of debugging and implementing stuff

Honestly, i want a "device" with wifi. And radio to wifi, so i can connect to my home within a 5-10k radius.

I haven't used my sim in a looooong time, otger than to provide internet, and why the heck do they have to be such a privacy nightmare?

Kinda. In germany we have schufa, and its not just for getting a loan. Every landlord here asks for it if you want to rent an apartment or even some WG (apartment sharing).

I think if a bank were to look into my income and savings, that's wouldn't be a problem. I bet they get a lot scruitny from authorities. But companies like klarna and paypal that offers "pay later in 30 day with 0% interest", don't. This option was great way to slowly increase your schufa score.

My concern is that, this law essentially gives these companies legitimate grounds to collect this data. Which will eventually be used in dynamic pricing. I think kaufland online is already doing dynamic pricing (annectdotal evidence).

  • Yeah, housing was much more affordable back then.

And based on what I have heard, when you pay out of pocket, it does not show that you are someone responsible vs if you buy on credit and then pay before the deadline. The latter is more stronger proof of financial responsiblity than the former. Not that I agree with that logic

I think we can't demonize one part of the system without talking about the other. Credit history has to be maintained incase we want to buy basic things like housing or cars cuz otherwise they are too expensive.

And cash isn't a viable option due to initiatives like digital euro. Iirc, from next year we can't buy anything above 3k with cash (there will be some kyc involved) and above 20k is just not allowed.

This law in particular creates reasonable grounds for these companies to collect data about our income and expenditure for eventually implementing dynamic pricing. And I wonder, was there no other way to implement this without sharing our financial data?

I used to always prefer to pay later (with no interest), cuz i heard it would prove schufa score but I just received an email from klarna, how in the future they will need to view all my purchases history to make sure it fits my budget and income.

What the heck? I thought EU was better for privacy. If we don't buy things on credit, we get a bad credit score, and if we do, then we have to sell our data ?

I wanna counter your point a bit, like if im the only one flying it would suck. But like imagine if there were oasis in the middle for flying people. You would plan your journey from europe to south asia, sure it would take a week or maybe multiple, buy you'll be stopping at different towns, meeting the locals and enjoying their food.

Imagine there could be like seasonal migrations when the weather is too cold or too hot. And then there would be nomads, tellong everyone about their nomad lifestyles.

Honestly, i felt the audio wasn't as bad as so many people are claiming it to be. Like yes its bad, but after seeing watching so much of palestine footage, its.... not that bad. They suffered for like 30 seconds, and then peace.

If you listen to hind rajab's audio, that thing is super devastating. Like imagine being 5 with your parents dead in the car with you, trying to explain to paramedics, imagine what those paramedics must have felt in that moment. All the agony, all the struggle. Like what thoughts did hind have while waiting for paramedics to arrive?

I think the reason this flight audio feels so scary to western audience is because, so many people have flown, and "it could be any of us", whereas hind rajab and other palestinians live in a "war torn" country. Like it happens all the time over there anyways.

So i recently setup home server with qbittorrent+gluetun, i have surfshark so i can select any country from the server list. Im wondering which ones would have least tracker blocking?

Cuz I have noticed that many torrents have trackers that are blocked when a EU country is selected. Should I set Russia as the default? Anybody have experience in this?

Some of my friends and me, we want to start a community kitchen in my local city. Mostly to foster a community for immigrants but ofcourse everyone is welcome. We will be cooking food and serving it basically.

We already found a place where the owners offered us their restaurants free of charge.

We already have some donors, who will donate a total of around 500 eur per month.

But I want to avoid using my personal account to receive these donations. I know a friend of mine had his bank account closed because of "suspecious activity" and I have heard similar stories like that. Plus im not sure if finance amt might cause problems because of it.

I should mention, i am not a german myself (immigrant with blue card visa) and my german is quite basic.

So my question, what is recomended way for me to receive these donations? Does platform like gofundme or ko-fi make more sense? Probably they will have their own fees.

Anyone who has experience with this sort of thing?

So I decided to use my really old pixel 3a as a test of sorts. It has calyxos, with always on VPN (surfshark). I have no accounts on it, google or anything else. I usually use it for streamio or tiktok.

But I have noticed that I am still getting video recommendations based on what my flatmate watches (we share an internet router). Or what I watch on my other non-VPNed devices.

    So what gives?

I am looking for an explanation as to why its happening, not just how to fix it. Btw I also use private DNS so dns leaking is not the likely culprit.

Anyone knows how to debug this info leak?
