But technicaly yes. If i setup a lora mesh setup on my balcony, that connects to my pc. And another lora mesh to wifi interface via esp32, theoretically i should have low enough bandwidth. Last i checked, a solar panel based lora device would cost 100 eur, i think i can use reticulum that allows working across multiple interfaces. That would be server lora, and then i would get a client lora device would cost like 40. A typical thin client would also be within 100 ish eur range. This will allow me to have a link to my home mini pc that is hosting a bunch of stuff, maybe i can run matrix bridge so i can access signal and whatsapp. And some basic maps with actual maps cached on thin client and only the public transport api communicating. Then the only other thing i would need would be a way to listen music which probably needs to be implemented somehow. The only problem is that, i have no clue how much the bandwidths going to be, and how high would i need to put the device etc. And right now, its not a financially wise decision to spend 2-3 hundred eur and hours and hours of debugging and implementing stuff permalink fedilink source parent [–] Solrac@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago I mean... would you consider Recticulum? https://youtu.be/V3kZwsysuqQ permalink fedilink source parent
