Why should AI generated assets be disclosed but not AI generated code. It is the bugs that break games and make the experience mesirerable.

And if players oppose AI from a moral stand point, than making an exception for code, is misleading to the end users, who don't know the intricacies of the AI disclosure criteria.

You can write slow and inefficient software in any language

Yes, but you can't write snappy fast software in any language, high level languages like python, lua and php carry alot of overhead from the get go, because of dynamic typing, heavy abstractions, and heavy garbage collectors.

At this stage of AI advancements and industry adoption, I believe most newly released games that have opted to not disclose the use of AI are lying. And steam's choice of what constitutes AI contributions are misleading, most people don't know that not having an AI disclosure doesn't mean no AI use What-so-ever. As the article states AI code doesn't need to be disclosed, which is the component of the game that has seen the the most migration towards AI.

I don't know what role that AI disclosure plays anymore. especially when steam itself doesn't verify publishers claims. I think it's there just to please steam fans and maintain that cool kid aura.

Same billionaires are funding the campaigns of both parties. they keep winning no matter who gets elected.

It feels surreal to live among the gullible

Add to that, I have a hunch that a good chunk of people who are the most vocal against AI heavily use AI themselves. like game devs using ai to produce music, and musicians use AI to make posters, and novelists using AI to illustrate their works, many people call for solidarity against AI to save their professions while using AI to replace other professions.

I am one of the most haters on AI, but I two acknowledge that people are hypocrites on the internet

The sad irony with the human specie is how we collectively believe and engage in systems that get proven times and again that never work the way they are advertised for. but we still believe in the fairness of the justice system and the illusions of the power in the hands of the people in representative democracies.

If anyone of us has made their own self-driving system. embedded it in our cars and run someone over. we sure would be spending the rest of our lives in jail. But if a multi billionaire gets a license from bureaucrats, they car sell their cars and run over many people without anyone spending one night in jail. Rich people are always exempt from punishment.

Like the title says. I find browsing piefed's frontpage which defaults to "hot" ranking is far greater than lemmy's "scaled" ranking.

on scaled as it is now most post are very new and have no engagement and are of no quality, on the instance I am, the first page is full of bot mirrored content the with 0 engagement and that is of no general interest, it is almost the same as turning the ranking to "new"

on piefed's homepage the content is still fresh, of general interest and already engaged with and bot posts don't filter through

My proposition is to take piefed's "hot" ranking algorithm and use it for lemmy's "scaled" ranking.

I have truly noticed a change in how I am engaging with content nowadays, I have become more reluctant on clicking on links to articles or videos that have been made in these last few years, and when I do I started by looking for clues if it has been generated by ai. if the voice is human or generated, if the pictures are of real events or slop. I mistrust everything. and it's exhausting. earlier slop was easier to detect nowadays it's becoming impossible.

Basically Most videos don't load on first try for me on Freetube. so I have to go back and forth to reload the video hoping this time it will load? they have removed the reload button, and the team are just closing issues on GitHub that demand reinstating the reload button. Plus comments have stopping loading as well.

Invidious doesn't work half of the times. and piped is dead.

What do you recommend using on desktop. or is paying for youtube Red the only option left?
