Edward Ryan, who served with Avon and Somerset Police, was found guilty of gross misconduct following a two-day hearing after colleagues reported his behaviour at an off-duty gathering in Bristol in April 2024.

The hearing heard that Ryan made a transphobic comment during a conversation about a television programme and also made sexualised remarks and gestures about a woman he knew outside of work. The comments were made in a public setting in front of colleagues, who reported the incident to the force's Professional Standards Department within 48 hours

Okay I’ve changed it to that, although it’s a much worse title as it implies some sort of positive event rather than highlighting the injustice.

Colorado is a solidly blue state with protections for trans people on the books. When a hospital stopped providing gender-affirming care to trans youth because of policies from the Trump administration, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that it had to resume care (the hospital is now being sued over its claim that the doctors are refusing to provide the care). And yet, on Tuesday, trans rights might be decided by voters through ballot initiatives.

Voters in the Centennial State will be faced with Propositions 134 and 135. A “yes” vote on Prop 134 supports defining student athletes’ gender by their “biological reproductive systems” and forcing them to only compete on teams that align with that gender. A “yes” on Prop 135 supports a ban on gender-affirming surgeries for trans minors: a rare situation that is limited to top surgery anyway. A carveout in the proposition allows cis people to still receive the same care denied to trans people.

Brazilian activist Chico Mendes famously said that “Environmentalism without class struggle is just gardening.” His quote is often used to highlight the necessity for intersectionality within climate activism, so that environmental movements truly fight for intersectional climate justice.

However, it also underestimates the radical power of gardening. What happens when you mix gardening with both class and queer struggles? Spaces like TopSoil emerge.

In April 2023, TopSoil began as a safe space for the queer folk of , to come together in community and garden. Sounds simple when put like that.

Transgender people fear social acceptance is going into reverse and some are retreating from public spaces, according to the first major analysis since last year’s supreme court ruling in the UK on the definition of a woman.

The Stonewall survey finds that while almost half of British LGBTQ+ people feel more accepted by society than a decade ago, 58% of trans+ people – and 75% of trans women – feel less so. Almost half of trans+ people now avoid certain bars and restaurants where they do not feel safe, 37% avoid single-sex spaces such as toilets and changing rooms, and 29% avoid exercise classes or sports teams. A striking 80% are pessimistic about the future of equality, in stark contrast to the net hope expressed when the same question was asked in 2017.

The two-night fundraiser marked the one-year anniversary of The Midwest Princess Project, Roan’s not-for-profit that raises funds for trans youth and LGBTQIA+ communities.

And oh what a celebration it was. Hosted by Caleb Hearon, the line-up included Lola Young, Tinashe, Amanda Lepore, and more — and even included an appearance from Christina Aguilera.

Exclusive | TL;DR: Popular AI models position trans existence as a legal or medical issue in 94% of responses, a QueerAF investigation into biases in Large Language Models has found. Nearly everything about trans people is being presented by Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT through a legal and medical framework – including when the question is about something else entirely. QueerAF prompted the models 504 times, focusing on themes, suggested prompts and concerns submitted directly by our newsletter audience.

For example, even though the LGBTQIA+ community have reclaimed the term ‘queer’, AI systems have started blocking the term due to its history as a slur. Because AI models largely learn from collecting past data which is entrenched in historical and social binaries, AI has evolved through normative frameworks to perpetuate heteronormative and cisnormative ways of thinking and cause a reduction in queer visibility.

Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, has long been a vocal ally to transgender people. In the 2026 midterms, he has not wavered in that support, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars in attack ads, much of which has been focused on transgender people, that have poured into this year’s elections from the Republican Party and, even at times, from the Democratic Party as well. Rather than capitulate to those ads, as some Democrats have done, El-Sayed has defended transgender people outright, on sports, on education and on health care. That was certainly true in his 60 Minutes interview released Sunday, in which Ross Douthat, the conservative columnist Bari Weiss brought to the program this summer, pressed him multiple times on his support for transgender people.

The Texas Supreme Court has halted a deposition aimed at exposing who is behind political mailers smearing a transgender advocacy group.

The state high court paused the questioning ordered by a lower court judge just 15 minutes before it was scheduled to begin, delaying an effort to uncover who produced and financed the mailers.

A group seeking to restrict transgender students' participation in school sports and access to facilities is making a second attempt to put its citizen initiative before Maine voters.

Protect Girls Sports in Maine resubmitted petition signatures Monday in Augusta, hoping to qualify its proposed referendum for the 2027 ballot.

"Our democracy will not be stopped," said Leyland Streiff, the group's principal officer.

The proposed measure would require public school students to compete on sports teams and use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with the sex listed on their original birth certificates.

My bad, looking into it he wasn’t one of the ones calling us “biological men” must be getting mixed up with Andrew’s or Kaptur who said that during the same week.

“Every sport has to be safe and fair,” Talarico said on Fox News. “As a former public school teacher, I care a lot about our student athletes, I care a lot about our students. And so I will oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it risks safety or fairness.”

“There are going to be rules where sometimes it’s not allowed. That’s actually how you solve a public policy problem with love for trans folks but also for our athletes, who need a fair shot at competition.”

He does cede to bullshit transphobic talking points on sports however. Weasel words about safety or fairness don’t change the underlying message.

Why couldn’t we still have the 2021 Talarico out there, instead of the more conservative 2026 model.

“Some things are more important than perfectly fair competition in sports,” Talarico said in 2021.

Why wouldn’t democrats win if centrists are as right wing as we think? The democrats are also as right wing as I think outside of a handful of progressives.

So I’ve read all that, and all I can see is a man who has changed and abandoned us.

“Trans people deserve dignity and equality, those are certainly principles and values that I still hold, and that stem directly from my faith.”

Insulting us, and banning us from sports is exactly what he claimed to be against.

When someone tells you who they are, you listen. Maybe he had a stroke, maybe he believes he can win if he sacrifices us, either way I cannot support it.

Trans people are not Russian bots because we care about our rights being stripped or being insulted to our faces by our representatives.

It’s gone from restrooms and sports to denying federal funding for our healthcare. Each one of these concessions to anti-trans Dems has only seen escalation in their attacks on us.
