If you think cheating in a single player game is fun. Go ahead, who cares. If you cheat in an online game, you are total scum. Not fit to exist in society tbh

I’m jaded enough that I won’t believe the original post isn’t an AI image meant to farm engagement for slop revenue from boomers on facebook.

How many people saying amen in the comments?

The idea is the art. What the AI slopper doesn’t realize that the level of talent isn’t what makes something art, but the expression of that talent. No matter how small.

Asking a machine to execute your idea, is what makes it not art. Even first graders are making art when they put crayon to paper. Even if it’s only their parents who appreciate it, to those parents, it’s as valuable as the Mona Lisa

It’s the same images in both panels, so it seems justified to call the hypothetical plagiarism machine’s theft of hypothetical Bob Ross’s hypothetical art, slop. Considering Bob Ross has been dead for 30 years, and how absurd the supposed shade being thrown at anti-ai’ers is… you almost have to expect this is parody meant to mock ai bros and not an actual argument being made.

Forgive me for commenting before reading whole post but it’s quite lengthy and I’ll need to revisit it. I read the first 10 minutes and then skimmed the remainder once the structure of the post became apparent. The takedown is written from the perspective of a former Google employee who feels like it’s his duty to defend its honor.

Right out of the gate, he latches on to Zitron’s comments that the big 3 tech stocks are floundering in their pursuit of following the frontier labs on AI. It is true that he’s made those comments, but the bulk of Zitron’s remarks are criticizing the financials of OpenAI and Anthropic who do not have an established product and revenue stream to absorb AI losses like the big 3 do.

The rest of Zitron’s usual arguments are against the neo-cloud’s raising debt to pay for data centers to power the compute required to run the unprofitable frontier models. Again, not a subject tackled by the post.

The post acknowledges that he doesn’t go into them and decides to criticize Zitron’s comments and inaccuracies on corporate structure and how some of his predictions have not came true. (Zitron even admits as such in this interview with John Stewart, saying he was wildly incorrect when he predicted AI would be abandoned by the end of 2025)

The blog post does admit that it was only tackling a portion of Zitron’s arguments and (paraphrasing) says that the few things that line up with his expertise Zitron is so wrong about; that he doesn’t need to address the rest of his arguments. Calling Zitron a slinger of “Gish-Gallop”.

I don’t agree and without fully diving into the rest of the post I probably won’t be convinced. It’s one of those things where if you already were predisposed to either agreeing or disagreeing with Zitron, this post isn’t going to move you either way.

Thank you for calling out the port slop. Decompilations and reverse engineering projects used to be worthwhile and exciting and now it’s become an ocean of half baked Claude code projects with no contributors and no base to stand on.

I’m glad we got big ones like SM64 and OOT before the vibe coding craze, now I see a recompilation or port and it doesn’t even register now

I pretty much only hear music from around 2004 -2014 played in public. I really couldn’t tell you most new music. I certainly remember 80s music being played in high school but it didn’t totally dominate like 2000s music still does

It’s the Great Plains for sure. I think when your end the Great Plains, you think of the Great Plains as the Midwest and the Rust belt as the rust belt instead of the rust belt

To be honest the plains folk hold up the friendly midwestern stereotype a lot better than the rust belt does

It’s good to have the classic games back with so many players. I’ve been playing BO1, haven’t played BO2 yet but probably will at some point.

I never really gave up on the old games. I’ve been playing CoD UO on PC consistently and MW, WaW and MW2 on Xbox 360. If they rerelease those games on PS5, I’d probably cancel my Xbox live game pass membership finally.

Plating this was a pain, but eating it was worth it. The sauce was cilantro garlic and lime with chopped green onions and a sour cream base. Tossed over shredded cabbage. I also made some guacamole for my wife to put on hers although I don’t care for it.

First time making something like this, I just sort of felt it out. Cheese is feta with chili powder and lime juice since I couldn’t find cotija cheese. I didn’t really like the slaw so I’d probably make it with just iceberg lettuce or fajita veggies instead.

Any Lemmy chefs have any advice/criticism for me? I’d love to improve
