Well, I’m a person, not a bot. Sorry you don’t like my take. I don’t know how else to put my foot down, I voted lesser evil for Hillary and Kamala already. I am committed to breaking their strategy of offering status quo candidates that don’t move the needle and have almost no chance of winning.

I’ll take it. If Kamala ends up as our candidate I will purposefully abstain. If blue can’t put up a solid inspiring candidate, they need to feel that with voter turnout.

I actually don’t remember, I was mainly focused on the BGP configurations and data collection for presenting to our leadership. I think unbound allowed you to configure the cache size. Our servers were just cache servers, so if they did not have a record the server would just recurse the request.

In a previous role at an Internet provider, I was the network engineer in charge of the Anycast DNS cache servers. The company made it some sort of point of pride to buy the cheapest hardware possible. I guess that is the beauty of anycast, failure recovery is pretty much automatic.

Anyways, the servers were dead cheap, single power supply, single SSD. They ran BSD, but my system engineer and I wanted to convert them to Linux, so we ran a proof of concept for switching. We ran performance tests against the same server hardware with BSD and with Ubuntu, I think we saw loss on the BSD server at 325k QPS and Ubuntu made it closer to 500k QPS. Oh, we had like 16 of these caches and our peak load network wide across all of them was something like 36k QPS.

It was a pretty cool setup. If I am remembering correctly we used unbound, ExaBGP, IPTables, and a health check script that would trigger the advertisements to our core network. Although we really wanted to switch to Linux (or rather away from BSD), we were primarily driven by the fact that Cisco IOS-XR does not support DNS query IP SLA tests, which we used previously to trigger the route advertisements.

I live in New Hampshire and Maine was so terrible with their amber/safety alerts that I shut them off entirely on my phone. I remember getting woken up at 2 or 3am for an abducted child, they knew it was a parent. Later they sent out an ‘extreme’ (whatever the highest level is) threat to human life after a road rage incident where 1 guy shot another guy at an intersection. I was 150 miles away. That is a heck of a radius to set for one guy with a pistol. They ought to save extreme for when a meteor is headed for us or something.

Unfortunately my work machine has an ARM Snapdragon Elite (it’s way better than it has any business being) and the ARM version of Firefox does not yet seem to play well with Yubikey certificates. I tried every which way of ARM and x86-64 Yubikey certificate drivers but none resolved my issues. I believe FIDO2 works, but some of our applications still require certificate authentication.

There may be an unintended consequence of this. Corpos love to optimize to minimize any hits to their bottom line.

I could see any of these possibilities as a reaction:

    • Self checkouts become overwhelmed so stores remove remaining paid cashiers to add more self checkout lanes.
    • Self checkouts are reduced or removed to avoid giving any discounts.
    • I believe I read that grocery margins are thin at the store and are much higher for manufacturers. I could see stores increasing prices across the board to recoup costs.

Hard to know for sure, the people seem to just rarely get a W these days that isn’t immediately wiped out by something else.

Wake me up when Valve has an app store on Android that leverages the FEX translation layer to run my Steam library. Gamehub and Gamenative are not my favorite.

A 5mm Allen wrench was taken from me in Istanbul. The 4mm was ok, he looked at both, but the 5 could be dangerous. They were THE EXACT SAME SIZE. Standard L-shape

Haha thank you, we do alright, my wife is pretty cool. Nemo makes great gear. The later version of that tent (used on our Nova Scotia trip) was well improved. I think they called the new fabric Osmo. Shoot me a DM if you’re interested, I might be able to sneak a 40% code from her.

Beelink SER9 users - I was having trouble with game streaming on my SER9 32GB. The video would freeze (one new frame every 10-20 seconds) in some but not all games. The audio and controls would continue to work. Clients were AYN Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 5, and Apple TV. AMD firmware was either 24.10 or 24.12.

I attempted to update several times to AMD drivers 25.3.1 and 25.3.2. Each time this upgrade failed with a black screen, and I was unable to boot into Windows. Each time I had to painstakingly revert the driver in safe mode with networking to 24.8, 10, or 12.

I was able to solve this by first updating my BIOS to V103.P8C0M0C15.73 using this link HERE. The BIOS download site was slightly confusing, as it states that your serial needs to begin with B, Y, or D, and mine started with 9D. It also refers to the SER9 as the SER9 Pro. As stated, I only have the regular 32Gb with Ryzen AI 9 HX370, the word 'Pro' is not listed anywhere.

The BIOS update process is fairly simple, but needs to be done carefully:

    • Use a USB flash drive (I used an 8Gb)
    • Format to FAT32 (drive needs to be less than 32Gb to format to FAT32 in Windows)
    • Name the drive to WINPE
    • Extract the contents of the zip download
    • Copy the contents of the folder (not the actual folder) to the FAT32 formatted flash drive with the volume label WINPE

WARNING - The process below must not be interrupted. Don't start it during a thunderstorm:

    • Boot SER9 and press F7 to get boot device menu
    • Select flash drive
    • Allow process to complete (~10 minutes)

After completing the BIOS update, I was able to update to AMD driver 25.3.2 using the full download installer. I made sure to check the box for clear user settings, as other posters have suggested this. This new AMD driver 25.3.2 has so far resolved my Steam game streaming issues.

    Good luck, hope this helps.
