I hope various groups and organizations are organizing an alternative event, with all the best artists and food and speakers, and blackjack and hookers. And millions of people attend or tune into that. It would be hilarious to see it completely eclipse this disaster that Trump is pushing.

“We don’t want singers with no talent, but big fees to put you to sleep — we’ve told them all to stay home,” Trump crowed.

Then why did you hire them in the first place xD For fuck sake, you're such a sore loser. People don't want to be affiliated with you because you're a crooked fascist pedo and you attack them on their looks, intelligence and or skills. Such toddler behavior. "mommyyyyy! Timmy doesn't want to come to my party! Hey Timmy, you're stupid and I'm going to tell everyone how stupid you are! And I'm going to have a party all by myself instead. It's going to be the best party in the entire world." Sure Donny, go play with your toys.

Also didnt they start planning this thing like three months ago. Most performers have their schedules set like a year in advance. My understanding is that a bunch if the acts didn't even know they were in it.

From what I heard, they didn't know what, it was. They thought it was the official celebration but it turned out to be a cheap replica organized by the white house. They didn't approve so canceled.

But you also make a good point. We all know who organized it: incompetent idiots.

Can we hold him to that?

Isn't there a law expressly prohibiting the use of federal funds for partisan activity?

There's also a law against rape and pedophilia. Didn't stop him either.

The problem is: why aren't those laws being enforced?

The whole system breaks down when the guy in charge of the boss of the whole DOJ is the criminal, especially when he has nation's highest court stacked 6:3 in his favor...

Is he going to order the military to attend so the venue doesn't look empty? Or will it be public money spent on seat-fillers?

Aren't we to the point that they could just use cardboard cutouts and then have their conservative media show slow pans across the crowd showing flat, motionless, glossy faces - commenting on how lively everyone there is, how they all look so excided and are cheering for the president.

Right!? Poor guy’s probably just sitting on his couch thinking, “what about meeee?” Plus, the obvious TV op of an Army helicopter dropping him off at the venue to open his set! Such an easy opportunity to own the libs, and they went with Lee Fucking Greenwood!?

"We don’t want singers with no talent".

TIL that according to the highest official representatives of the United States, there is not a single talented musician in the United States.

It's a shame, and it would have been a good concert. The blame lies on the untalented musicians who have no talent, if they had talent there would have been a concert with talented musicians.

But fortunately for all American patriots, the president with the highest scores on a cognitive test will deliver a consistent speech full of patriotic, Christian and capitalist values for several hours.

You'd have to be a total idiot at this point to attend such a thing.

I hope we can get everyone's name that attends this. Kind of like finding out someone that was at the J6 terrorist event.

Fun fact about Lee Greenwood: he recorded an alternative version of his biggest hit, "God Bless the USA" where he just swapped out all the references. It's called "God Bless You, Canada". Dude is such a hack.

I wouldn't want my nation's celebration to be associated with this piece of orange shit anyways.

Half milestones are kinda tacky anyways, but I suppose that fits. 250 who cares. I'm sure a lot of people would rather not celebrate most of those years anyways.

Quarter millennia? I reckon that would be celebration worthy under normal circumstances

I could see a case where celebrating reparations being involved in a 250 year anniversary, maybe? But to be honest in my opinion, borders are kind of a weird concept now days

All I am saying is not everyone has a reason to celebrate and people that don't celebrate shouldn't be looked at as less patriotic, it's not compulsory to light fireworks out of my asshole on the fourth fun as it is.

I fully fully agree, I didn't mean to come across as critical of your point. There are many reasons to not "celebrate"

Because no one could possibly protest against raw patriotism!!*

The playbook hasn't changed. But now they're showing their work and still missing the point.
