The Cybertruck specifically, or Tesla in general?

I will happily admit that Tesla helped demonstrate that there is a viable market for EVs, which pressured other auto-makers to produce them. The auto industry has become very risk-averse over the last several decades, so convincing them that EVs weren't a risky R&D investment was a big step.

The Cybertruck has been a phenomenal failure. Sales have been far below what Tesla projected, for a number of reasons. Not least of which is that, in the time between their original announcement and actually getting the thing to market, other parties released EV pickups with much more conventional designs and, more importantly, better value.

Uh... about 1600 people were charged and over 1200 were convicted of crimes related to the Jan 6 insurrection.

Trump pardoned them all on his first day in office. With a Republican-controlled congress that wasn't inclined to do anything to stop him. But saying nothing happened is a ridiculous over-simplification.

Some states already use ranked choice voting, because each state gets to decide how to run their own elections. Alaska does, for example. I'm honestly not sure what happens if we abolish the electoral college and just count votes directly. If some states use ranked choice and some don't, how do we count those votes fairly? Would the federal government have to take over presidential elections from the states? Would that require a constitutional amendment? Given what's going on with the federal government right now, is that a power we would want them to have?

Same. He played a nerdy kid that spent more time interacting with the adults around him than other kids, even if they didn't always take him seriously. I identified with that a lot. And it never hurt that Wil is only a year or so older than me in real life, and had a lot of the same interests. I grew up seeing him as both a peer and a role-model.

Currently, if you haven't been told there's a Frame with your name on it (reservation list), then there's no definite timeline for getting one. I don't think that means they will never arrive. It just means they haven't decided how best to balance supply and demand yet.

I didn't want to speculate out loud, but yeah I was wondering. I also live in a state that allows assisted dying. If the writing was on the wall and I knew I was about to start losing my faculties, I might choose that path to spare my loved ones having to watch me die one little piece at a time.

He was a terrific Gurney Halleck in Lynch's Dune.

And honestly, from everything I've heard about the man, he was just an all-around lovely person. Caring and supportive of anyone who had the good fortune to know him.

YMMV, but I've never found Feliway to be an effective solution. We tried it for a couple years with a cat that was a serial sprayer and it never helped at all. Every vet recommends it because it's easy to get, but it's also expensive and to my knowledge there is only one actual study that had both rigorous controls and showed a positive correlation between spraying behavior and use of synthetic cheek pheromones (Feliway). That one study involved only 22 cats, and the difference between the treatment and placebo groups wasn't that great.

Fluoxetine (prozac) has been shown to be a much more effective treatment. If your problem persists, you might want to ask your vet about it.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that he is rolling out a new screening program for “testosterone deficiency” among troops, calling it necessary to allow them to operate at their “absolute best.”

The screenings will be conducted annually as part of service members’ required medical screenings for those 30 and older, he said. Troops under 30 can volunteer to be tested. In a video on social media, Hegseth said receiving testosterone replacement therapy would be voluntary.

Postmaster General David Steiner told a Senate committee Wednesday that, if a proposed rule is adopted, the U.S. Postal Service would withhold mail ballots from states that do not hand over to the federal government lists of people who have requested absentee or mail ballots.

I've been chasing this one for a couple weeks now. It always seems to be behind trees or clouds whenever I try to capture it, but I finally managed to get a some solid time. I'll get more when I get a chance to try to pull out more deail.

I got two mostly clear nights in a row (a rarity this time of year) and was able to gather a total of about 11 hours of sub-frames on NGC 7023. I wish I could get more of the fainter details, but I think I'm limited by the light pollution in my area (Bortle 6ish).
    Gear: Dwarf Mini
Settings: eq mode, 60 second exposures, gain 60, astro filter
683 total sub-frames used in the stack

I've dabbled in amateur astronomy for many years, but I've never really gotten into astrophotography because, frankly, I didn't have the patience. Or the funds. Especially considering where I live. It's a Bortle 6 zone not far from Seatltle, so observing conditions are rarely great. This time of year it's mostly overcast.

In the last several years, though, we've got some amazing new devices coming on the market that make the hobby a lot more accessible. And in the last year or so they've become much more affordable. I just got my hands on a Dwarf Lab Mini. So far, I've only had one good clear night to really put it through its paces, but I'm already blown away at what I was able to capture with no real experience. This is the M81 cluster after about 4.5 hours of 60s subframes. The auto-stacked results looked okay, but I grabbed the FITS files off the device and re-stacked them using Siril, then did some post-processing using Seti Astro Suite. Really not much, though. It almost feels like cheating.
