In a particularly creative expression of anti-MAGA sentiment, a man who goes by the username “biz_dave” says he successfully trained crows to attack MAGA hats. As detailed in a series of posts on Threads, the self-proclaimed “big nerd” and “very part-time artist” stuck some tasty treats, including “peanuts, chicken scraps, mealworms, and dog kibble,” underneath a MAGA hat. > > “Once they were coming regularly, it was only about three months to get them to the hat removal stage,” biz_dave wrote. > > https://www.threads.com/@biz_dave/post/DTSvEhIDory >

What until a Maga child shoots a crow, then they are going to have a bad time.

They will remember and you will get dive bombed and shit on for a while.

You know, he answers that in detail. One, he doesn't know how to train them to poop. And two, he doesn't want to be a poop trainer.

Some birds do use poop as a defense. So at least some can to some degree control it.

Eh, something like that could be a fear-induced reflex. Even some people may wet/soil themselves in fright.

Oddly enough, that would mean that given the impulses of "fight or flight," an animal that can literally fly will crap itself instead.

All he does is tell them what it represents, and that is enough.

Better not be a fan of any red flavored sports teams in that town, somehow I doubt the crows can read.

You know, I had a bright red baseball hat that I used to love. I stopped wearing it a little over a decade ago, because at least two people thought it was a MAGA hat and I didn’t want to get dragged into more conversations with MAGAts or alienate people who are now being targeted by the regime.

That’s unfortunate, but it happens and I bet I’m not the only one who stopped wearing red hats.

I also have a red/white hat that looks absolutely nothing like a maga hat, and I also stopped wearing it after a dude laughed and told me "man I thought you were wearing a trump hat I was about to kick your ass" (as if that was comforting lmao), so I understand the sentiment.

But also there's still a bunch of sports teams that do use red fabric as well, red fabric isn't exclusive to trump, and imo we should all learn to read instead of needing to avoid red fabric like a crip. It's really not that hard to tell a maga guy from some swiftie that bought "one of those Travis Kelce sports hats" tbh, just read the dang hat, y'know?

I mean, the swastika was used in a very positive way for millennia, and from a design perspective it's just a great symbol.

If we can give up the swastika, we can give up red baseball caps.

the swastika was used in a very positive way for millennia

It still is. Eastern societies didn't dump an ancient symbol of good luck just because of the nazis.

    https://kashgar.com.au/blogs/ritual-objects/the-swastika

Though they're not exactly the same; the nazi version is diagonal, with the corners on the points of the compass, while the eastern version sits flat.

All too often we let the assholes ruin good things.

Eastern societies are not western societies, I was speaking about western societies. Nazi Germany was a much greater influence in the west, the east was more dominated by Imperial Japan. The atrocities they faced weren't associated with the swastika, so they didn't really have a reason to give it up. The atrocities they faced were associated with the Rising Sun flag, which is stigmatized throughout Asia.

It's not really that we let the assholes ruin good things, it's just that they did. We can try to pretend they didn't, but then we just look like a Shcrödinger's Asshole blowing dog whistles. It's not true, it's not fair, but it is what it is.

If we can give up the swastika

Well, who's this "we" you're talking about, then? Seems like the only people in the west who need to "give up the swastika" are nazis.

But I certainly don't get bent out of shape when I see the eastern version in a western setting, such as in the various decorations of immigrants from the east. I was mainly saying that we shouldn't expect folks from the east to abandon their version because of what the nazi version represents.

By "we" I am referring to the west. People who live in places with a history of significant Nazi influence, where the symbol is most strongly associated with Nazis, where anything sufficiently close to that symbol arouses the possibility that Nazis are being endorsed. I also don't have a problem with the symbol itself when used in other contexts, but that one dominant context makes it pretty suspicious in the general western population. So it goes.

I've been torn. I have almost a dozen greek fisherman hats in various colours, including red. I often won't wear it, but I can't part with it. I do still wear it sometimes, but I am prepared for any jackass to pipe up and say something stupid to me assuming I'm on their side so I can shut them the fuck up.

But I don't wear it much because I don't want folks on my side to assume I'm a fascist.

This timeline sucks, even if this is the tiniest reason it sucks.

I've also been looking for a pin to put on it that would help make things clear, but money's tight so I just choose not to wear it except sometimes when I go to dialysis where people already know my politics. lol

I just had the opposite thought the other day. I've always thought blue works better with my face. However er I may start wearing a red hat on the principal that those fuckers don't get the color red! Decolonize the color wheel, live free!!!!

Might as well make all sports teams change colors then since we've become bulls who can't stand the sight of red shit. I still say that humans should be able to read the difference from "maga" and "49ers" but of course that's from my high pedestal of literacy, curse you Sesame Street!

I actually got to watch this with magpies, and it might even have been a funeral! It was along an alley and a fairly large group congregated around the body. I thought it was happenstance, but then a subgroup of about four cycled through, protecting the body and intermittently nudging it to see if it was okay. Passing cars barely shifted the entire group, cars had to slow for them. Took about 45 minutes, and they were quite loud!

The next morning, another group of four spent much of the morning doing something similar. I'm inclined to think it was the same four. It was a beautiful experience, and kind of sad

And it will reinforce itself because the redcaps will get pissed off and attack the crows to try to defend themselves. The crows will interpret this as withholding the treat and they'll go harder, escalating the rivalry. They will develop a grudge.

But then the conman in chief will just sell camo hats or something and make even more money off his marks.

In a city somewhat close to me several years ago a guy dressed up as a cop for Halloween and was being mean to the crows. The police still have to check the skies every time they get out of their vehicles... Maybe we should all just like get out there and make the changes we wish to see in the world.
