It would have been awesome if my idiot fucking countrymen had done the barest scintilla of research and realized that this was always his fucking game plan

They voted conservative, what did they expect?
If you want your life to get better, you vote left, if you want it to get worse, you vote right.
We've got the whole 20th century as evidence of this
Well.
It depends on your tax bracket and property values, doesn't it?
I'm in the top bracket, tax me more, the world gets better when you do
But also, frankly maybe tax wealth over work.
Work is productive to society, wealth is parasitic.
Property values (sensibly) go down with appropriate wealth tax.
i'm in the lowest tax bracket, but someday I'll be on the top... 🤦
There another option, you believe only the local rich employer can help you.
Grew up in a small town with only one big employer. If they said bigger taxes would mean layoffs, will the town hated the idea of bigger taxes., because the employer was seen as the only things keeping a respectable and comfortable lifestyle possible in the community.
Welfare was both inadequate and shameful, and other than that, they didn't see upside to government spending. The big projects they see were things like building a big bypass for a big city to have better traffic. Meanwhile all the infrastructure spending closer to home was less dramatic. The roads thanklessly kept drivable without any dramatic news coverage. The local medical center kept afloat by federal spending without anyone really highlighting that. Easy to make the narrative that big government takes your money and gives it to city folk, and anything the employer does to the community is forced by big bad government.
Yes, when the rich get a flat tax and you're taxed at the same rate as people earning millions a year. (You're already in a higher bracket than the very wealthy, since they pay capital gains taxes and use tricks like borrowing money instead of selling stocks to get cash.)
If you want your life to get better, you need to stop relying on politics.
They did this a lot during the first junta too. Lots of polls as to how disliked he was.
Didn’t change one fucking thing.
People got overconfident. Again. Classic bystander effect.
I know what I'm about to say may get reactionary downvotes, but I think the answer is not overconfidence.
Let's get real. Jan 2021 until Dec 2024 was a rough time all around. Starting with COVID, then the supply chain disruptions that brought, then the bird flu with chickens and the impact on the cost of eggs, and Putin's invasion of Ukraine and the global impact on energy costs, and not to mention the whole rent-seeking, profit-taking megacorpo bullshit we're still living with, people struggled from 2021 through 2024. This struggle was what caused the Shitgibbon to win more than any overconfidence.
Democrats did themselves no favours, either. When Biden ran against the Shitgibbon, people got the impression he was a caretaker POTUS, someone who would stand up for Democracy in 2020 then run as a Lame Duck until 2024, when Team Blue would select the next generation for POTUS. Unfortunately, nobody stood up. Harris was invisible, and not the attack dog I expected her to be. None of the other Democrats stepped up, either. It was business as usual, not the 'Democracy in danger' moment they were portraying it as.
And their handling of Trump? Absolute dogshit. Trump skated on his 6 Jan 2021 crimes, and Death may well take him before Justice does. And obviously, the Dems wouldn't let him skate if what he did was so bad, right? That's what many voters, especially low information voters, think about the whole situation.
So, Fall 2024 rolls in, and you're the typical American voter: a knucklehead who can't see anything that's not directly in front of you, pulled a thousand different directions, and trying to decide what to mark on your ballot for President. Eggs are ridiculously expensive. So are so many other essential groceries. High fuel costs are still in the back of your mind. Your kids are duller and dumber thanks to missing the '21-'22 and '22-'23 school years, and you remember missing your friends at Church, the weekly hangout, and work/school those years. And man, those Dems said that Trump was a threat to Democracy and needed to be gotten out of office so America didn't die or such shit, then 4 years of doing jack and shit and he's back running for office, and you remember that groceries were affordable and you could fill up your car for cheap when Trump was in office, and now you can't do any of that, and so you say "Hey, how bad can he really be?" and you vote for him. 77.3 other knuckleheads join you for various reasons, including looking forward to the American Reich and putting those upity minorities back in their place, and bam. Trump 2.0. As the old saying goes, consider how stupid the average American is, then remember that half of Americans are dumber than the average American.
At least now, Trump's shortcomings are front and centre for a lot of American voters; enough so that 2/3rds of them are saying "yeah, we fucked up putting the Shitgibbon and his Merry Band of Miscreants back in." Small victories!

A minimum 1/3 of the US is comprised of Nazis. Nearly every poll shows this.
It never stops shocking me how awful people are. All it took was trump taking the muzzle off for a huge chunk of the country to reveal what shitty people they are.
I think it's more that a huge chunk of the population have externally defined morality and thus are very malleable. Many many people do not enjoy the hard work of figuring out their own self-consistent views of right and wrong. So they let their culture define it for them, which the people in charge are more than happy to do. So when the prevailing culture told them it was wrong to be racist against black Americans, they believed it. And now that the culture they stew in tells them (e.g.) black Americans are lazy moochers, they believe that.
He still has something like a 43% approval rating. That's still 100% too much.
You can ask pointed ideological questions to come to whatever conclusions you want in a survey. 1/3 of the US is not Nazis, you obviously either don't live here or don't go outside. Nearly every poll does not show this lol.
I mean, I'm not the original commenter and I don't think they're literally nazis myself. But ~39% of Americans have stood with Trump through both presidencies. When every poll (popularity, opinions on ICE, shutdown, etc.) seems to land around that same number, it means there is some consistent cohort there.
Many people, and this isn't just exclusive to the U.S., aren't racist, but their policy stances have racist outcomes. For instance, people fear crime or the loss or destruction of their property, so almost universally people vote for more policing, despite the lack of evidence that your suburban police department with military equipment makes you any safer.
As Avenue Q says - Everyone's a Little Bit Racist.
But also, I never said anything about racism. To me it seems like there is a large part of the US that is willing to give up the ideals of our country (due process, free speech, voting rights), if they can get the policies they think they want.
I lived in the US for nearly my whole life until I fled earlier this year specifically because of Trump's (and his supporters') threats against my communities. His administration is openly composed entirely of Nazis. Anyone who continues to support him is a Nazi, which currently sits at 39%. You don't openly call for the death of all Latino and trans people unless you're a Nazi. So yes, that 39% is all Nazis.
Yeah you need to talk to people in the real world, it will do you some good and allow you to re-calibrate your perspective to one more based in reality.
Nobody wants death, as hard as that may be for you to believe. Your conclusion is the one you arrive at when being chronically online and only seeing the worst of the worst (whether true or not or exaggerated partial truths) designed to enrage you to engage and drive algorithms.
Real people are not the political figures you see online, and the stances and beliefs of political figures cannot be automatically applied to every person who voted for them, as much as you might like that. No person is their government or their country.
You have the mindset of somebody looking for a reason why it's okay to kill 39% of the US population, which ironically gives you something in common with Nazi ideology.
If we keep calling them Nazi's and they keep calling us radical whatever's, we just end up killing each other. I think we should not do that.
You need to realize that the things you see and experience are not seen and experienced by other people and vice versa. We're all operating off of the information we have and our personal experiences. If you had the information and experiences a typical MAGA conservative had, guess what, you'd be a MAGA conservative. Don't let algorithms and political polarization make you lose your grip on humanity and treat your neighbors like scum.
This shit is why we're so divided.
If the last 10 years have proven anything, it's that Americans are REEEEEEAAAAALLY fucking stupid.
Whether the majority of America disapproves of this fascist or not, it's a nation of dimwits and we're going to keep voting against ourselves. It's why we're here to begin with. Trump didn't make any of this happen. He's a fucking idiot. We did it to ourselves, because too many of us are beyond stupid.
Sorry for being a downer, but I expect this ship to keep sinking for the remainder of my life. I've seen too much stupid to believe otherwise.
*Randy looks out the window to see a 93 year old grandmother being slowly chased and tackled by a 340 pound limp-jogging, hyperventilating, otherwise unemployable 32 year old virgin in a balaclava in 90 degree heat and desert camo vest in the middle of the suburbs. His tactical armor vest, which was sold to him with a cardboard plate that he thinks is bulletproof, also has the word "fedirel" spelled wrong on the name plate. On the bottom, he wears Buffalo bills sweatpants with the logo colored in with black sharpie.
*Randy goes back to polling agency's phone call
"You know, I'm starting to think the country might be approaching the possibility of entering the wrong track eventually, maybe... If this keeps up for another 12-15 years, things could start to potentially get a little bleak.... Uh huh, no I don't mind sharing that info with you, I am what they call an undecided voter cuz I ain't one a these liberal sheeps"
Also want to vote Trump for a third term.
Well, what are you guys gonna do about it?
I'm mad as heck and oh look new Netflix series!
What's it about?
It's about a quirky and woke person standing up against a thinly veiled metaphor for oppressive society, overthrowing their wealth and power but doing so in a loving and peaceful way, then acquiring the same wealth and power, but like in a good way because they're the good one.
I dunno why but it's just really hitting the spot rn
I was watching
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2070791/
" a group of revolutionaries seek to drive out a tyrannical militia that's taken over the former United States of America."
as if
Huh, netflix doesn't offer that in it's American region.
We need to start impeaching and recalling every damn politician up the chain until we have people who will fucking do something.
Oh Democrats definitively are out of touch, but to compare that to how the Republic Republicans are out of touch is slightly disingenuous
We have been on the wrong track for decades. Luckily Trump lit that wrong track on fire and strapped us in while accelerating towards a pit of despair
We have been on the wrong track for decades
What does this even mean? When did we start going down the "wrong track"?
Ronald Regan
So all presidents since Reagan have been the same?
What is with this obsession with trying to normalize the Trump presidency?
I get your point but I don’t think that was his intent.
I may be naive. If so, I’m sorry.
Reganomics and the neoliberal policies that were born from Regan destroyed America and possibly are going to destroy the EU too. https://today.duke.edu/2019/01/road-trump-began-reaganomics-loss-middle-class-economist-says
Two inflection points:
1.) When every Confederate politician & officer wasn't hanged by the neck until dead.
2.) When Nixon wasn't prosecuted for Watergate.
Since bush that I can remember, but probably before that.
Regan. The person you're thinking of is Regan.
And just like that...nothing changed.
Gotta get past that whole "Two-thirds" because it's that one-third that voted for him and elected him to office.
