Fun fact is that this piece isn't even called bishop in other languages. In french it's called fool. And both are wrong if you compare to the original indian game

Yeah in chess's Asian cousins the equivalent piece is usually an advisor or general. And then there's Japan, where they just call it "angle-mover".

(Worth noting that it's by far the most blandly named shogi piece. Rooks, for example are "flying chariots".)

This is my favorite reply to chess dot cum's tweet:

A tweet by “I Am The Most Intelligent Person To Ever Exist (@perkins_becket)” that reads “I love putting the bishop in my ass. I put the bishop on my ass whether it’s white or black. Black or white, it doesn’t matter; it’s going in my ass either way. I love putting the bishop in my ass.”

You have any proof of that?

You maybe confusing Epsteins here? All I can find is he once talked to Rafael Epstein

I'd recommend a source instead of a small number of JPGs for the future.

Looks like the source is this article which documents just how embedded Epstein was in New York and saught to be included in philosophical discussions.

I'm not sure this is as damning as you think for Dawkins, more so than the manager who was actually in Epstein's phone book.

Seems like he should have asked more questions about who was sponsoring his flight to a TED talk than someone that rode the Lolita Express.

Sluggy Freelance had a pretty good and extensive storyline about this, but I guess the comic never really got indexed because my searches are returning nothing.

So I guess you should just read Sluggy Freelance in its entirety, or at least until you find the relevant storyline.

The term "bishop" as applied specifically to the chess piece was first recorded in the 16th century, with the first known written example dating back to the 1560s.

The name bishop came along fairly late in the game.
