60 lbs of tomatoes yielded:

  • 10 x 500 mL of sauce
  • 19 x 500 mL of crushed tomatoes
  • 5 x 500 mL (ish) of crushed tomatoes in freezer bags.

That's all for 2025 ☺️

How many plants do you have that yield 60lbs all at once? I get around 6lbs on average every week or so from 2 Roma tomato plants and I want to say that goes on for like 6 weeks maybe. I made one batch with 5lbs last week and have 6lbs ready to go this week.

Nice job by the way, impressive.

So THAT'S the secret, huh. Who knew.

Nice job regardless, it's a lot of work.

We do have close to 40 plants, but the sun exposure changed a lot this year and I'll be surprised if we get 20 lbs total 😭 they are all still green, too.

In the past we've thrown them whole into freezer bags and just pulled them out when they were done producing. If you're just making sauce and milling them, it's just fine - no loss of texture or anything. Sometimes I'd dehydrate them a bit first to cut down on cool times.

Wait, you can water bath tomato sauce jars?! I always thought they were supposed to be done with a pressure canner.

    Edit: Looks bomb tho
