Republicans across the country are not taking their historic midterm beatdown in stride, and according to a recent report from Right Wing Watch, a notably MAGA-linked pastor has taken his despair a step further, calling for "another January 6."

Lorenzo Sewell is the leader of 180 Church, a non-denominational Christian church based in Detroit, and has become increasingly connected with GOP and MAGA politics in the last several years. In 2024, he was a guest speaker at the Republican National Convention, and in 2025, he conducted one of the benedictions at Trump's second-term inauguration. Recently, reports have even suggested that he is considering running for public office himself as a Republican.

Right Wing Watch's report this week also described Sewell as "an ardent stolen election conspiracy theorist whose obsession with exposing alleged voter fraud has become too extreme even for the Trump White House." Now, his rejection of election results that are unflattering to Republicans and the MAGA movement has continued, as during an appearance on the "FlashPoint" podcast after the midterm blue wave, he once again called the elections fraudulent and suggested Trump's followers should rise up against them.

Sewell's argument for why fraud must have taken place in the midterms echoed the common right-wing misconception about elections, often lampooned with the phrase "land doesn't vote." Often, conservatives might share electoral maps of certain states with more counties colored red, and argue that this must be an indication that the state should elect Republicans in state-wide races, despite the fact that Democrats tend to win counties that are more heavily populated, giving them the edge.

So he's using a pulpit to openly advocate for a political revolution-adjacent response? We all oughta be reporting his fucking megachurch for violations of tax exemption requirements.

Excuse me, Lorenzo, or may I call you Tom?

But really, what are you meant to January 6th? Every single government building in the US? What an idiot

"Apparently unable to understand the concept of population density, Sewell insisted that states like Texas, Michigan, and Ohio are red states and therefore could not have possibly elected Democrats," the report explained.

"Out of 83 counties in Michigan, [Republican gubernatorial candidate] John James won 69 of them," Sewell declared. "Do you know that even [Democratic Senate candidate James] Talarico, he won—watch this—he only won 31 counties? There's over 204 counties in Texas. In [Republican Ohio Senate candidate Jon] Husted and [Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod] Brown, Brown only won 16 counties. There's 88 counties in Ohio."

Another bright bulb from the conservatives....

This is how conservatives argue: in bad faith. The data is out there, they just choose to discount it wholesale because academia has an inherent liberal (reality based) bias. They project their own corruption onto it, ie, If we ran the numbers, it would reveal the real truth. When they hear these arguments of big number us, small number them, it reinforces their worldview of the “silent majority”, without any sort of context to the data provided that explains how things actually work—that their “big number” actually signifies less people across more landmass (in certain areas of course, this is not universally true).

The truth is out there. They want to believe [alternative facts instead].

Like many republicans, he's privately revolted by himself.

That gives them too much credit and self awareness. They find people revolting who get to live the way they wish that they could. "I'm not like that because I'm not allowed to be because it's "wrong" for some reason, you shouldn't be allowed either"

It really shouldn't surprise me how easy it is to mask mental illness inside a religious context.

Is he asking for more ANTIFA provacateurs to infiltrate a peaceful protest? I honestly havent checked in on the conservative J6 narrative in some time

I just saw one of them saying it was antifa on The Good Liars.

So at least a few of them are still telling what is surely a blue lie (not a really coherent one, though, since they also think donnie won an election. Why antifa would protest that is not something they seem able to explain) about J6 being done by antifa...but I strongly suspect most of the bullshit tales conservatives tell each other are a web of blue lies.

Are they now admitting what it was?

If by "another Jan 6" he means "more arrests and convictions for anyone threatening and committing acts of violence under the pretext of 'muh, the elections were rigged because my side can't lose'" - well, I'm all for it.

If MAGA wants to storm the capital and hang the vice president this January I'm okay with it. They should also storm the white house, that will teach those democrats.

That is so hilarious: he rages, he sweats, he plans, he prays, he KNOWS his god is on his side, he's gonna FIGHT for his country, he shows up with his little band of loonies with pick axes and other farm implements, all dressed in MAGA red and flag capes, making their holy trek to DC in the open beds of pickups, and he arrives right on time three days late. Fucked up the ass on his own petard.

It's almost heartwarming if you think about it.

I really thought they might try it in state capitols, and I still think that was the plan.

But they expected it to be a lot closer. Even trump voters find this giant blue wave believable, because they talk to other trump voters.

Dude is behind on the grift. Tucker Carlson and MTG were way ahead of it. The obvious grift right now is to pretend that Trump betrayed the movement and that the real America First people were just the countless people that supported Trump until it became unpopular to do so.

It's really easy, you just point to all the shit he lied about, that you defended previously, and now acknowledge it as a lie. Protecting social security, bringing back manufacturing, ending wars, etc. Just revert back to the shit he lied about and pretend you're for those things. Easy.

Oh, and make sure to point to the DSA candidates as the "real grifters" that are just lying. And ignore Mamdani. Just don't talk about him.

That, barring it being trump and therefore being done in the most idiotic way possible, is a real danger, considering how the president now 'can't be a criminal' in his 'official duties.' He really could call for attacks on the opposition in federal places, and pardon them from the federal crimes if they get fail and get caught (and not shot). Sure, he couldn't do state crimes, but how many states do you think are going to stand up to a january 6 amount of people that are actually attacking as a riot/insurrection this time*?

*Not saying here that january 6th wasn't an insurrection, just that it wasn't a big coordinated para-military (lol, like even half those fatasses and larpers were trained, fit, or even healthy) movement with everyone ready to shoot opposition.

Why not? Trump pardoned all of them. This is what he wants. He's going to get violence because he both incited it, and also forgave it with zero consequences.
