Days after winning majorities in the House and Senate, Democrats are setting sharp priorities. They are zeroing in on Apple, Meta and the companies led by Elon Musk as early targets for congressional investigations, according to two people familiar with the plans.

Gee Bez- I mean, Washington Post, is that everybody? No other giant tech oligarch properties in the crosshairs, yeah?

Huh.

Haha. That was my first thought after seeing this is from the Washington post.

These criminals need to be prosecuted for treason; including the propaganda networks they've established.

that constant noise you hear from those big giant buildings with the power generators... it's not the cooling systems, it's all the shredders.

Let's start breaking up giant companies. Google, Amazon, and plenty more need to be broken up into separate businesses.

The media empires probably should go first. It's absurd how much of news is bought up by oligarchs.

We've got plenty of lawyers. Hit 'em all at once. Bring back something similar to the fairness doctrine.

I'd love to see a hearing on why Colbert's show was cancelled.

Also, why these mega-mergers were even allowed. Why partisan pieces of shit like Bari Weiss are overseeing what are still public airwaves, and so on.

Honestly it would be way more effective to encourage tech worker unionization.

Breaking up companies only delays reformation. Making workers sustainably more powerful will keep whatever future business leaders more in line.

This is honestly a lot more worthwhile than going after Trump.

The courts have already essentially declared Trump to be above the law, and there aren't enough votes to go through the Senate, so the only way anything could happen to him is after he's out of office, and he'll be 82 at that point, and his cult has already started to fracture. Even in the wildest scenarios, he'd be living out his days under house arrest.

But the corporations that helped him into power and accommodated his every request and bent over backwards to appease him, they'll still be there. Organizations aren't limited by mortal lifespans. And as for the individuals, many of them are much younger and will continue wielding political and economic influence long after Trump's gone. While they're powerful and can afford the best lawyers money can buy, they do not have the same formal immunity SCOTUS gave the president. It's still not exactly likely to go anywhere, since they are the ruling class after all. But the legal pathway exists and they're a more worthwhile target, being the real core of the problem.

It's gonna be so sweet to at least see them sweat a little. Somehow, I doubt they'll really pay much of a cost. But still....
