Imagine how unsettling 32 badly organized teeth would look if you were used to this.

TECHNICALLY some animals have these, but aren't they pretty much only for crushing hard shit or something like that? Also for non-vegan diets it's a bit of an horror story, no? As we have various teeth for various parts of eating like cutting, ripping and grinding.

Why is this so gross to me?

How about 1 big hair follicle? Everybody gets to choose where theirs grows from 😆

Until you break a tooth and you suddenly have 50% fewer intact teeth.

    It's called a beak.

In the gaps are sharp corners that help you incise food.

Also, yeah, if one breaks or goes foul, extraction isn't as difficult.

If I had a nickel for every patient whose psychiatric symptoms all but completely resolved after ripping their own tooth out of their own mouth with their bare fingers, I'd have two nickels, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Because different teeth serve different purposes. That's why canines, incisors and molars all look different from each other.

I want to kiss them. What does it feel like? If the teeth look like that the tongue is probably different too.

You mean the 32 tongue strips?

Unless she had her wisdom tongues removed.

This is the info I need to know!

Is it good to kiss? Is it bad to kiss?

Is Lemmy okay with AI shitposts now?

I hope not, but it does seem to be every second post as I scroll all. Maybe this is my cue to give up my last form of social media.

Edit: I just saw who posted this. Yeah, it's all over.

  • It's so dentists can sell us floss and give us a hard time about how we don't do it often enough

Redundancy. You lose less by cracking one tooth than by cracking a "chewing plate".

Also, don't post AI slop here. You should know better, @The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world.

It's OK. How else were you supposed to get this terrifying image?

Photoshop/Gimp clone brush and 30 seconds. Copy a section of tooth and clone it evenly across the mouth, add a bit of blur for smoothing rough pixel transitions.

Meh. It's really not very smooth or shiny, factors that make the other image feel closer to a body horror uncanny valley.

This just looks like mediocre MS Paint.

Maybe it's harder than you expect. Just like a mandible plate.

There are people who could Photoshop something just as clean as OPs picture but it takes skill and work people aren't willing to spend on a throwaway picture for social media. Memes are lazy for a reason.

I know. I've done a tremendous amount of high (or at least decent) quality Photoshop image edits. In GIMP and actual Photoshop back when it wasn't subscription-based.

Which is why I called out @OneCardboardBox@lemmy.sdf.org and their obvious underestimate of "oh, it's easy! Anyone can do it!"

It's not easy. Not everyone can do it. I would obsess over this for an hour or so to get this right. The Clanker took 30 seconds.

Recognize that there's a fucking difference in quality and time needed to evoke an emotional and physical reaction here. Don't gaslight yourself for political reasons.

I agree, it's not easy. As an intermediate photoshop user it would probably take me an hour to replicate what chatgpt produced in 4 seconds. Was that picture really worth an hour? Was it worth spending years getting good at Photoshop? I think dumb little memes like this are the perfect place to apply generative AI. It gives better results than the effort it would take to do it by hand. Nobody's ever going to confuse it for actual art.

Honestly shitposting is better with AI. Someone is going to get chewing plates randomly when they go to design a "Perfect Human" because an AI will see this image and "think", ha I don't have to do 32 individual teeth to be perfect.

An anti-ai team that trains the models poorly is better than an anti-ai team that just whines on the bench.

  • Would we still have lips? Maybe we'd gain a prenhensile tongue if we didn't. Im sure every adult can imagine ways that would be fun.

Let me introduce you to an old(giant) species of armored fish that was armed with shears for teeth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunkleosteus

The entire family of armored fish is the first known vertebrates to have true teeth as well as among the first fish to have jaws. (Previously being more like algae suckers and lamprey-esque).

It is thought that they went extinct from being slower and not much better armored than unarmored fish like sharks and ancestors of predatory bony fish.
