Bernie been fighting so hard, I hope he can retire soon and allow the mantle to go to someone decent that can do what been doing for 60 years.

Same. I hope he’s got a group of people primed to take over so he can retire.

Bernie is a true believer and the closest thing to a politician I trust. How he's been treated by the establishment is a great illustration of how corrupt our entire system has become, and his patience in continuing to navigate it without giving up or selling out is... Really something.

I mostly love a bernie but I'll believe "paid off" when they actually get some real systemic changes completed. Flipping seats should be the means, not the goal.

The movement that led to at least 18 progressive victories in congressional races and 42 left-wing winners down-ballot "started with a man with 1% vote and three people at his announcement" of his presidential bid in 2015, said one organizer Tuesday night as Democrats won control of the US Senate and House, a majority of governorships, and made major gains in state legislatures.

"Bernie made the path" for progressive politicians to win crucial elections, said a labor organizer based in San Francisco, referring to Sen. Bernie Sanders(I-Vt.). "This wave has been a long time coming."

The best I ever felt voting was when I voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary.

I mean... he won but got fucked out of it. That's what the "Hilary's emails" stuff was all about, clear collusion between her and the DNC to subvert their own processes. It's interesting and important history if you're looking for a rabbithole today

What exactly happened with that? I know he won the first couple states like Iowa and NH but then the superdelagates didn't choose him or something? But by that point I thought he was already losing in the next batch of state elections (because he was too "radical" while Hilary was the "safe" choice).

Yeah, superdelegates negotiating a deal vs directly representing their constituencies was the core of it. Apparently she'd made prior concessions in exchange for it being "her turn" that time and the nomination was essentially decided before voting began. When things weren't working out that way the superdelegates were told how to vote and did, the arguments where she insisted on that were a highlight of the email leaks. It was a long time ago and I'm probably not the one to ask, tf even is a "superdelegate"? Sounds made up.

We don’t deserve him. The way the DNC treated him was abhorrent.

It's not about what we do or don't deserve.

If people needed to deserve good governance before they could have it, the world would be a fascist hellhole forever.

This is about what's right or wrong. Good governance is what's right, and Bernie knows that, and that's why he fights for it whether we deserve it or not.

Right! That’s why he immediately caucused with Dems and the dnc after that election. Right?

Truth is, Bernie is all in with the DNC. Yet you post what?

Bernie knows more than you and his actions prove how little you know. He works with others rather than demonizing groups. Thats the long game. Not talking shit.

Fuck that, he should've been elected 2 presidential cycles ago and there would be more Americans alive today. Bernie had nothing to do with any "long game" plans that saw ice murdering people in the streets.

His message is simple, and the Democrats should adopt it: how can we have a trillionaire, but lack the funds to provide universal health coverage?

Bernie is one of the better democrat leaders. I wish the 2016 election had been between Bernie and Carson instead of Bernie and Trump.

I'm already sick of all the back slapping. This is the first time I ever thought of these words. But, really, it's "thank you Trump". Now get something done Democrats. Focus on shit that will come to fruition in two years. And don't make it "we're going to cut everyone a check". And don't make it an endless slog subpoenas and grandstanding. I've got a suggestion: breakup SpaceX and nationalize Starlink. They've already proved they are a national security threat.

Everyone needs to target the 12-15 possible GOP senators who are up for re election in 2028 and make them realize that they will go the way of their GOP colleagues yesterday if they don't support an agenda that will help average Americans most likely at the expense of their money bag donors this creating a veto proof Senate.

Hard disagree. They didn't squander anything. They did what they wanted to do.

We are more informed now, we can organize better now.

Neo-libs are getting primaried more and more. At least some of them KNOW that they can't fuck up again, or they're gone.

Did they codify Roe v. Wade? Clinton said he wouldn't do it. Obama said they had better things to focus on. They could have also passed real healthcare reform in Obama's first two years, but he was too concerned about reelection to do it correctly. That super-majority was a gift.

Obama passed same-sex marriage only after Biden's gaffe saying he'd support it. There's an argument to be made that it might have been a setup and they did that intentionally, but I think these people play shit safe because they're cowards.

Yea I call BS. This is somehow the same Bernie that was the patron saint of return2ozama’s anti dem crusade?

This is the same Bernie that caucused with those same evil dems that return2ozama demonized.

The same dems they crucified fOr ThE gEnOcIdE…

Now Dems are suddenly okay by their measure. Now return2ozama’s happy to claim it was “Bernie all along” like Bernie had control of the Dem party.

If the Democratic Party hadn't rigged primaries against him, we would never have had a Donald presidency. But, as James Carville openly stated and other Dems implied by their actions, these bastards would rather have Republicans in charge than a Socialist.

I suspect that the lessons learned then shaped the strategies used now for progressive candidates to win and probably even for which kind of progressive candidates were supported (it's my impression that this round of progressives are much more leftwing and much less centrist liberals that constantly blow identity-politics whistles whilst not talking about poverty and general inequality).

This round was even more reliant on grassroots support than previous rounds, for candidates who were against inequality in all its forms (including some openly calling themselves Socialist) and for electable positions that were a lot harder for the Democrat Party leadership to interfere in the choosing of (unlike with Bernie's Presidential primary, were even shit like super-representatives was in play to stop him).
