Mississippi is still in play

Florida is the only state that didn’t get swept away really. They should still be very scared, but they managed to hold on for the most part, so republicans will likely and erroneously try to mimic their politics nationally to replace Trump’s personal version of maga. Look forward to a battle between Desantis brand maga and Tucker/Vance brand maga

We tried so hard, but there's straight up too many old retired republican voters. Old people from across the country retire here, we even have an entire "city" of nothing but old ass retired people. DeSantis made it so much worse too.

His term is up though, and we almost got a democrat elected to replace him. I was surprised at just how close we came, given the past decade. But we elected another republican, so it's not gonna be much better.

It's not just the old people either, there are a ton of huge rural areas with tump flags in every lawn on poles and fences, giant trucks plastered with stickers and flying flags. Lots of racist rednecks here.

I'm so happy to see the rest of the country flipping blue after seeing how badly everything went here. We also just shredded our tax system to bits, so everything's gonna suck even more now.

Interesting question, if we let climate take over, they may get swept away anyway

As a Florida Democrat who got pulled out of state during the primaries on a work trip, I hadn't even really heard the names Angie Nixon or David Jolly until I opened the sample ballot for the general election last Friday. Florida Democratic party must not have put in much effort to campaign. I don't recall seeing even a single sign on a street corner for those races.

That said, despite DeSantis' redistricting efforts, the needle didn't budge for the house.

Meanwhile Texas (who started the whole redistricting clusterfuck) lost a house seat and a whole lot more. I didn't even realize Abbott was up for reelection this year until he had already lost.

Maybe if the DNC lifted a finger for Angie... But at least their excuses for Florida have run out.

I'm from Oklahoma. We have the 50th best education system in the country, and it fucking shows.

  • Over here in Arkansas, I'm starting to think we are tied with ya'll for dead last. I'm not really surprised because Arkansans have a long running tradition of voting against their own interests. But, re-electing Tom Cotton? Seriously?! The man has the personality of a malevolent potato. Even MAGA Republican voters don't like him. But they'll happily vote for him because he has an "R" next to his name. Or because they're fucking bigots. Or both.

I'm right there with you. I am pleasantly shocked and surprised at how many more votes for Democrats we had this time, though! It was far closer than I expected it to be in a lot of races here. I keep my expectations very low for this unfortunate state and it's population, lol.

Oh, this race made me very hopeful for 2030. No counties voted for Harris in '24, but Munson won OKC, Tulsa, and Norman by huge margins, and even Stillwater went with her this year. Overall, the state shifted left by at least 20 points. I can only hope the left keeps the momentum going and that Stephanie Bice gets fired in '28.
