    Uh what? lol.

Apparently, this satirical news: Mamdani to introduce rules requiring schools to teach 'Arabic numerals' pissed a bunch of people off.

It’s ridiculous, obviously, but some people are far more racist than rational.

Where the absolute blue fuck do these people think mathematics came from? I’ll wait.

    From: https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/us-health-chief-rfk-jr-faces-widespread-rebuke-over-his-anti-arab-remarks-2026-10-27/

"There's 500 million Arabs in the world, and yet they don't produce science, they don't win the Nobel Prize, they don't win the Fields prize, they don't win the Wolf Prize, they don't produce literature," the US health chief said.

Arabs have won all those prizes. Peter Hotez, who is a professor at the Baylor College of Medicine and specializes in vaccine development and tropical medicine, said his late colleague, Nobel Prize winner Ahmed Zewail, who was Arab and died in 2016, "would disagree" with the US health chief's comments.

He really is up there with some of the dumbest people ever

Mesopotamia is known as the "cradle of civilization" and made significant contributions to science and technology, including the invention of writing, mathematics, and advanced irrigation systems. They also developed early astronomy and created the first calendar based on lunar cycles.

So... algebra, alchemy, algorithms, all that cool stuff that kind of formed the building blocks of modern science and math are just... what, fantasy concepts?

Fuck you. I can easily name Al-Battani who’s work contributed to the development of science in the 10th century.

EDIT: Yes, I can only name them thanks to Star Trek, but the point stands!

If someone wants to show how wrong he is about Arabs not winning Nobel prizes it's better to name modern day Arab Nobel prize laureates like Ahmed Hassan Zewail, Naguib Mahfouz or Omar Mwannes Yaghi than to talk about Arabic numerals or algebra. Just saying.
