On Tuesday, President Donald Trump told reporters that he would only accept the results of the 2026 midterm elections if he felt they were “honest” — echoing statements he’s made in the past while peddling baseless claims of widespread voter fraud. When asked by journalists if he would “respect” the results of the midterms, Trump indicated his response may depend on the elections’ outcome.

Don’t care what you “accept,” Donald. It isn’t up to you.

He said exactly the same thing in 2020, and we all know how that turned out.

The best indicator that he's been knowingly lying the entire time is that he said the same shit in 2016, before the election even began. Something something "if I don't win BIGLY, it was rigged!"

By honest he obviously only means if the Republicans win.

Hi people from u.s., Brazilian here, we almost lose our country to facism again, fueled by your country and the big techs.

The people saw the situation, started a solidarity chain, promoting profiles of people telling the truth, showing flavio cagacalça true face, mobilized in the streets, etc.

Of course we had Janones organising the online movement and Lula as the briliant public figure he is, because never before i have politically positioned myself like i did this election, risking my skin like i did now (and i don't plan to stop).

But the real power came from the students younth, the elderly citizen who live the fear of the ditatorship and never want to regress back there, the artistic class who lend their voices to speak up for the people.

The message i have for your people is, move your fucking asses, there's no superman or hero come to save your butts, the only people who can save you are yourselves.

Mobilize, take the streets, the social media, give up your laziness and apathy and do fucking soemthing instead spend the whole day making dumbass memes and hoping for the best

So he can fuck right off.

Why do people think hell wait till 2028 till after an election he can't run in to redo Jan 6th?

The odds are he tries itbetween this election and upcoming January.

Most likely arresting enough sitting Dems that republicans will have a sham of a 2/3s majority, then changing the constitution willy nilly before eventually dissolving House and Senate.

    Very, very unlikely to work.

But it's getting weird no one has started talking about it yet. People need to realize how close we are to that shit

For one thing there will be no Jan. 6 event in 2027. That's for the President and Vice president election.

The newly elected Congress people will be sworn in and take their seats on Jan. 3, 2027. Certificates of election are transmitted directly from the states to the clerks of the two chambers. I can't find any current procedure in the house or senate to challenge the validity of a certificate of election in Congress.

In the house, all members, even incumbents, are technically newly elected to a 2 year term. They must all vote for and elect a speaker before they can do anything else. The old Speaker and house leadership are not in office as of Jan. 3, 2027, so there is no role for them.

New rules require majority approval and a quorum.

Blocking democrats from reaching the chamber is not going to confer any legitimacy on the resulting proceedings. First, Congress was and still is fiercely protective of its speech and debate privilege from arrest. Doubtful you could get enough to go along with such an abrogation. Second, both chambers need at least half their members present to hold a quorum to do business. If they manage to arrest enough to deny a (rightful) majority, I recommend that democrats should also deny a quorum to underscore just how sham the sham proceedings are.

Finally, even if the above steps still fail, Constitutional amendments need 3/4 of state legislatures to agree after 2/3 of both chambers. Good luck with that.

    Ok Rick James...

    Oh...

My bad, I fucking forgot trump always follows the rules and what courts say, you're right, he'd never do something he's not supposed to and try to get away with it

Constitutional amendments need 3/4 of state legislatures to agree after 2/3 of both chambers. Good luck with that.

Yeah buddy, no way that if they succeed in capturing a federal majority thru arresting political opponemts, there's no way they'd be emboldened enough to arrest sitting political opponents at the state level...

Surely I'm over-reacting, there's no way Donald J Trump and a bunch of boot licking fascists would ever do something they're not allowed to just to seize power.

    /S

This is the time to buy guns, and do a bunch of other shit to be prepared.

You have no fucking clue how fast shit would move if that starts, and he's fucking already raiding the homesnof elected House Representatives in DC

Even repeating this headline without pointing out that this incontinent deluded rapist has no role at all in the election result is too much deference.

Then no. He's not going to accept.

Fuck's sake... these fuckers didn't accept the election results from places they won. And now with trump and mush's voter fraud in full motion, does anyone think he's going to allow democracy to get in the way of his kinghood.
