And the Untied States will invade Brazil to install him as president. I wish I was kidding and didn't see this as a real possibility

Brazil isn't Venezuela, much bigger, stronger institutions, stronger army etc. Never say never but you think Trump is eager on getting into another Iran war?

No, but maybe there are still some left in the Pentagon who have not been purged yet and some influence left.

I hate that this question doesn't have a clear an immediate answer as "of course not!". Because... yes, I can see pedohitler considering this to hide the disaster of Iran.

Well…Iran is a vast country, with a deeply rooted regime, strong military, proxies all over the Middle East ánd the ability to chokehold global energy supplies…

…and yet Trump was stupid enough to wage war on Iran on a whim. Nuff said.

Not a fucking chance. What we would do, is cut a deal with their military to seize control, which, is what we did in Venezuela in case no one told you that yet.

    What’s your A1C on that?

    What's an "A1C"?

FWIW, I'd bet money that the House will flip, and I'm sure that the Senate will win ≥48, probably more. It'll slow, but not stop, Trump, who might be his own worse enemy. The next Democrat President will be a relative dark horse, as was Obama in 2006, Clinton in 1990, or Carter in 1974; and the next Republican President will be about as bad as Dubya Bush or Trump.

Pretty much. All of this is part of their theater. He flies from facing the consequences of his crimes but the far right will of course spin it around, lying about some political witch hunt. It's always the same with these criminal politicians. Everyone else is the bad one. They know they simply have to keep denying everything and some idiots will keep believing them. It's sad, really.

What other Brazilian would be able to fly here on a questionable passport (seeing as he was ordered to surrender it) with no clear plans to ever go back to Brazil? I promise if he was pregnant they would kick his ass back home after some torture.

Perhaps his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, who has already been living in the US while facing an arrest warrant in Brazil.

He refused to give up his passports, so they cancelled them, which means he’s traveling with an invalid passport.

I’ve been a little out of the loop on this Bolsanaro though, and the article doesn’t say for what crime his immunity is ending.

ETA: NPR mentioned he’s been charged with money laundering “among other charges”

A Latin American illegally entering the US on a revoked passport? How much would you bet ICE would cuff him at the airport if he was anyone else?

More info from the similar Guardian article:

Bolsonaro allies told Metrópoles [news outlet] that he would land in Florida on Tuesday afternoon and planned to request political asylum. “The Donald Trump administration has been informed,” the website added.

A US state department spokesperson said Bolsonaro and his family would be granted visas “to allow them entry into the United States.”

Bolsonaro has had Italian citizenship since 2023 and reportedly possesses a passport from the European country.

Lula slammed what he called Bolsonaro’s “shameful” decision to flee. “This is what the family Bolsonaro are like. Brazil is their second homeland. Their first homeland is licking the boots of the US, as he’s become accustomed to doing,” he said at an event celebrating his 81st birthday in Brasília.

One of the biggest indicators of whether a country is a fascist country is that other fascists flee to that country.

Eh. This is more an indication that Lulu, specifically, has learned his lessons from his first turn at the Presidency and isn't going to wait around for the Bolsonaros to organize a coup against him.

Look at Columbia or El Salvador or Ecuador or Chile. They all had a turn at Biden tier liberalism, let the fascism feaster under their watch, and then got flipped to reactionary dictatorships in the next cycle.

Lulu got jailed once. He came out stronger and smarter. He's too old to get shoved back into prison again.

Well, the US famously don't like immigrants, so I'm sure the fine boys from ICE will sort him out.

    What?

What do you mean it doesn't matter because he's rich?

Well, that's an oddly unprincipled stance to take. So, perfectly good foreign nationals with low net worth will be incarcerated but literally the devil himself would not if he had wealth?

Yes I know who Elon Musk is..

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jair_Bolsonaro#Post-presidency_(2023%E2%80%93present)

On 30 December 2022, one day before the end of his term, Bolsonaro arrived in the US state of Florida and resided in Kissimmee for several months.[188][189] On 8 January 2023, his supporters attacked the buildings of the Supreme Court of Brazil, the National Congress, and the Planalto Presidential Palace to instigate a military coup d'état and reinstate Bolsonaro as president.[190]

We've always collected them. The Shah, Batista, Santa Anna, the police chief who executed a prisoner in Saigon, President Thieu, that dumb woman who thought she would get put in power in Venezuela if she gave Trump her Nobel Peace prize.

We almost had Napoleon I too (that would have been pretty cool though)
