8.30 to 4 today, and I was running the pack room and training a newbie from 12pm. Phew I'm stuffed, so glad I have a day off tomorrow lol

I hoped I passed whatever test that was ๐Ÿ˜‚

Massive bogong moth wave last night down here. Went out into the garden at sunset basically walking through a sea of them.

Seen a few midge plagues before but never moths like that. Was impressive.

Heaps in the house. Can't do much. Back to melbs today so it's a later problem.

I only have one in the house, and that's because Mr Woof brought it inside to show off his hunting prowess. I tried putting it in the bin, but he pulled it out again so it's currently in the middle of the lounge room.

That's really good about the moths. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I grew up when there were so many of them everywhere. Every single street lamp at night, every outdoor light, every crack of light would have dozens pf moths crowding around. And of course car wind shields would get bug splats.

Heyy DT people! Sorry to just drop in out of the blue and vent to you, but I got some kinda bad news today and I wanted to share if you all don't mind :/

VentI've been getting migraines recently and put off going to the GP. I had an appointment booked in for tomorrow afternoon, but was out today in a shopping centre with a Specsavers, so on a whim I decided to book in just to make sure my glasses don't need adjusting and eye strain isn't contributing to the migraines, since I figured the GP might ask if I've ruled that out

Got a bit of a double whammy from the optometrist, apparently I had a lazy eye when I was a child which I never had corrected, and I've permanently lost part of my vision in my left eye. I can still make out shapes, but I was struggling to read even the top row of the letter chart they had.

Even worse than that, they tested clouding over my right (good) eye with a foggy lens thing, as opposed to just blacking it out and that was really really bad. I couldn't even make out shapes on the letter chart, it just looked like a yellowish white sheet of paper

I'm not even exaggerating/joking, If the vision in my right eye ever degrades, I think I'll become legally blind. I couldn't see shit at all with that eye clouded out. I could barely even make out large shapes further than a few metres away

Worse still, they decided to test my pupillary dilation with a torch and apparently my left pupil isn't constricting properly in the light, and wasn't reacting the same way as my right pupil did. He ran a bunch of other tests to me (fuck those air puff machines, seriously), and ended up calling someone else for a second opinion

Unfortunately he said he didn't know why it was doing that, so he gave me an urgent referral to see an ophthalmologist this week

I guess on the positive side, if my pupil is staying wide open in bright light, that would probably explains the migraines. I did feel a migraine starting after he turned off the torch (complete with a nauseous feeling, so fun!) and had to take some pain relief when I got home. Also positive is that he said the vision in my right eye is good, only needs a very minor prescription. Sadly he also said even with glasses, my left eye will never be as good as my right eye. I've permanently lost some amount of vision in that eye

Thinking back, for the last year or so, I've been closing my left eye in sunlight and just been walking around with only one eye open. It was just an automatic reflex and I never thought that might be problematic. And the migraines I've just ignored because they were tolerable ish with 600mg ibuprofen and 1500 paracetamol.

Funny enough, when I was a young kid and learnt how to wink, my mum never could and used to tell me it was a stupid and pointless thing to learn anyway. I guess I've proven her wrong

On top of this, my oven packed up and I got a text today that they can't source a part so they need to replace the entire thing, with a 2-3 week wait

This day's just been a pile of shit :/

Sorry to vent to you guys like that, I don't really have anyone I can tell

Welcome back Baku! That eye stuff sounds pretty full on. The eye doc sounds like he knows what he's doing and is committed to helping. Which is not the worst outcome in the world.

Thank you! I agree. I was a bit hesitant because I know speccies gets a bad rap, and seems to be more of an eyewear shop than an optometrist, but the optometrist I saw was very thorough and took his time explaining things, which I appreciate. Also like that he didn't just ominously tell me to see a GP

    What a magnificent CatTax!

With you on hate for the air puff eye gizmo. My measurement is at a level to worry about very bad possibilities. Much sympathy!

Sucks to hear about the eye stuff, I hope you've been able to catch it soon enough to do something about it. They have crazy technology with eyes these days. Good to hear things are at least going alright otherwise

Thanks tom, I hope so too. They do indeed have some wild technology - i was amazed that they managed to take a scan of all the teeny tiny nerves and blood vessels in my eye by making me stare at a green dot and then flashbanging me with a bright light. Imagine explaining that to a caveman!

Oh so sorry. Hearing bad health news is stressful. But on the plus side, sounds like you were lucky to walk into that particular shop and optometrist, he did thorough checks and is sending you to the right kind of doctor. Hope you can get some more answers and how to manage the condition. Cat tax is a beaut!

Took a picture of some native irises growing in the wild in a park near me.

The flowers are about 2 cms big.

Roll'd for lunch, got 4 rice paper rolls. They gave me 4 pots of garlic chili oil, one each! I had to pour the last of the second pot into the third, now I have two left for something else. Decent amount of spice on these things too

Been pretty nice a day, despite the fact I woke up and suddenly had a migraine and ended up laying down in bed for a good amount of hours. Hours that could have been spent playing about on my C64U and working toward completing Briley Witch Chronicles.

The most important thing about the new Star Wars game is there are a bunch of weird little guys that talk funny. Sure the racing and crashes look good, but there's a crocodile guy that goes "SCRIB DOOON"

Back in the day I'd hate it when Microsoft brought anything new out. KDE has just added a Sticky Note widget to my taskbar and I'm like, "Okay, I'll try this out." It's the difference between software trying to exploit you and software trying to help you.

My gas safety check is now complete. I thought Mr Woof was going to have a stroke from the stress of having a stranger coming inside the house, but he has survived and is currently doing a full safety sweep of the house.

Me: orders a second hand 240gb SATA m2 on ebay, foolishly reading the description and not the photo
    also me: gets a 256gb NVME m2
Me: hey seller heads up this is a different thing
Seller: "THE PHOTO SHOWS YOU WHAT YOUR GONNA GET"
Me: ok bud ya got me there but you should know an NVME m2 is worth a lot more than a SATA one.

Missing: 1 giant lemon grabbed from FreeBox around the corner the other day. I could go for a short walk, but this wouldn't solve a puzzle.
