Text your partner that you love them. Always great advice.

Isn’t this technically 4chanbeholesome
Fake: If you were texting while driving in 2004, you were likely using the 10 digit keypad on a flip phone.
Gay: gay marriage wasn’t legal in 2004
At least with a physical numpad people could text without ever looking at their phones.
Pocket messaging was actually quite useful. Especially in the winter.
and before the advent of swiping it also was a hell of a lot faster than any other input method for people who used it a lot, outside of the blackberry keyboards which were pretty awesome.
I used to text with my phone in my pocket riding my bike no handlebars. Where has the time gone...
I still know the numpad layout by heart, 20 years after having such a phone.
Physical buttons are the only way to type blind though, I still know the numpad layout by heart.
Youre either pretty young and never used numpad texting, or kinda old and never got used to it.
Mate anyone worth their salt could speed text on a t9 blindfolder under their desk and the teacher or police would never notice!
Is it that much of a leap to think they texted either in a traffic jam or even when they arrived at work after hearing this on the radio?
I’m all for being sceptical, but T9 texting could be pretty quick.
I don't get your point about it being fake. Why would a 10key phone preclude texting while driving?

Not the the USA, but anon could get Dutch
and i don't get why it has to be gay marriage anyway? the post indicates nothing about the gender of either person.
The joke is that 4chan anon posts are “fake and gay.” Which comes from how 4chan users themselves respond to eachother on their own board. So one response to these as a joke is to point out why they are fake and why they are gay. Since it’s a dumb joke, if you start applying logic to the explanation of course it breaks down.

Ah yes, the good old 15th month of 2004. I almost forgot!
In the text, it says that they're still happily married ">20 years later". That's why they came up with 2004, because 2024-20=2004, not because they thought the first "04" was the year...
fake, texting wasn't a thing 20 years ago... wait. oh no.
fake : anon had a wife, and is over 20
gay : anon said I love you to another person
real and heterosexual?
says partner, could be gay.
I swear it's only straight people who use that word. I have never called my boyfriends "partner", nor have I heard my other queer friends use the term.
Holy shit, actually wholesome!
Texing while driving is wholesome?
T9 texting with one hand without looking at the phone is less dangerous than using a modern vehicle's touchscreen climate controls

He stumbled out of the burning orphanage and lowers the last child safely to the ground. "Thank you, you're incredible!" they shout.
Stoy glances at the man's clothes and mutters loudly, "wearing white after labor day is incredible?"

You're underestimating people's ability to text on those old number pads. When it was all that was there, people got good at doing it. They were physical buttons so it was easier to touch type on them than today's touchscreen phones. It was just a different layout that needed to be memorized, but it was a pretty simple one, if annoying to use.
Yeah, you could type blind if you wanted, just takes a bit longer.
I loved using T9 and used to blind text all of the time. With touchscreen, it took me so much fucking longer and you can't look away. I've gotten over it now, but I miss me some T9 and physical buttons
I've had that thought before too, but until I just read this now I've never thought about it before but... we could just make a wireless T9 keyboard. It could be about the size of a car's keyfob, basically all battery and 3x4 grid of tactile buttons. And so all you do with it is hold it in your off hand and type with your thumb, that's it. But it's a Bluetooth keyboard that just understands T9 and works with any phone. Or even tablets or laptops if you wanted to pace around while typing.
Like, there are chorded keyboards and stuff like that, but I don't know I've seen a thumb-only phone-layout wireless keyboard before...
Holy shit, I'm sold! You can have the rights, just make me an honorable mention lol
Edit: Can someone please make this?
It would honestly not be too hard-- you'd just need the keyboard itself, a very small programmable chip, a bluetooth module, and a battery. I might try it if I can find the right components-- the keyboard itself seems like a really weird component but I'm sure there are at least good alternatives.
Edit: Ooh...
Yeah, my favourite was the brief period where there were full physical qwerty keyboards on phones, which existed before smart phones did because texting was popular before smart phones. Also, smart phones existed before iphones did and I held on to my BlackBerry torch for a while after iphones and later android were a thing specifically because I knew I'd hate touchscreen keyboards.
Phones actually de-enshitified, too, because there used to be a huge market for things like ringtones, wallpapers, emoji packs. I remember getting a special cord to connect my phone and PC to be able to set my own shit because I wasn't paying for a 20 second clip from a song, not to mention no one was even trying to sell the FF battle music as ring tones, which I thought was perfect because phone calls are like random encounters lol (boss battle music for my parents haha). These days you can just set those.
A lot easier to one handed blind text with T9 than with a touch screen
I could text from my pocket using a T9 keypad on Ericssons, Nokia or Motorola. Blackberry was the only handset I had to look at.

US defaultism? Totally legal since april 1st 2001 in my country.
Look to the person who you came with here today, and tell them you love them.
Was the first time, not the last time, I told my guy Ben that I love him. Thanks Michael Franti.
Misread it as thanks OJ, thought for a second that it was saying OJ Simpson had said that
In the mirror universe that DJ's counterpart told their listeners that day to "text your partner and just say I hate you".
