There are an estimated 12,000 ballots left to count as of late Thursday evening. Most of those ballots are from Arapahoe County. Only 85 percent of the county's votes are reported. Arapahoe County supported Laubacher overwhelmingly (60.9 percent) to Boebert's 35.8 percent.

According to NBC News, Boebert must win 61.4 percent of the remaining vote to overtake Laubacher.

Love the political defeat of this fascist.

Don't love the rampant sexism and slut shaming in the comments here.

I don't really think it's slut shaming to make fun of the woman for jerking off some man in a theater with a bunch of people around. I don't give a shit if you want to sleep around, and I also don't give a shit if you want people to watch. That's all fine. The people around need to consent though. It's shaming her for being an asshole, which overlaps her sluttiness.

  • Not only that, but view her through the context of an entire family of sexual predators. Husband? Predator. Son? Predator? Her? Sexual activities in broad daylight in front of kids--shitty as hell.

We are making fun of horrible people for the horrible shit that they do, not their gender identity. I would categorize it the same as mocking Trump or Gatez for being predators.

On one hand, you’re right - we shouldn’t stoop so low. On the other hand, is another man’s penis at a showing of the Beetlejuice touring production in Denver.

Yep, here we go again, just like with Nicki, the Lemmy sexism problem is showing itself again. Sexism and misogyny is never okay, it's interesting that many of the sexists here probably consider themselves leftists.

I will donate 14.88 to her next campaign in your honor. I hope she can recover and return to being unabashedly evil and calling for the murder of my family members. Truly, this is the saddest day 💔💔 Our noble girls need to stay home where a strong man can protect them from evil people insulting them on the Internet. Unbelievable misogyny 😭😭😭

The problem is you're conflating attacks on a Nazi with attacks on a woman. Those are separate things.

Lemmy has a massive sexism problem but you'll not find me defending that murderous pig. I know you feel very sorry for her and I'm sure that's wonderful for you. I feel very sorry for the people she's hurt (that includes women btw 😱😱)

Look, have fun playing civility charades. I'm sure she'll remember you fondly. That just ain't the way I play

Where did you see that I was feeling sorry for her?

I'm not conflating the two. Users saying that they want her to perform sexual acts for them, saying that she's starting an OnlyFans, and talking about her appearance as many comments in this thread have done hurts all women, not just her.

Those things detract from the terrible shit she's done, and serve only as a distraction from them. I hate her for what she's done and who she is, and I can say that without making sexist comments about her which could affect other women.

Did you read the other comments in this thread before you decided to use the women in your life as an example?

use the women in your life as an example

    Gross.

I know you're here to derail absolutely any conversation related to actual progress, and you're doing a great job. Let's try this, am I allowed to criticize Schumer? Would that be antisemitic? Would I be allowed to say him and Jeffries should naked mud wrestle for survival in a colosseum full of hungry lions?

Gormless loser shit. Sickening. Shit is cooked

Again, I didn't say you couldn't hate, dislike, or insult anyone. I wasn't even talking about you, so there's nothing to derail. Unless you're wanting to make this about you for some strange reason? I wonder why you're having this reaction to a comment simply pointing out a pattern of sexist behavior, not even directed at you.

It's just where I jumped into the thread.

Everyone's circlejerking about how bad Lemmy is (which it is) but we are completely sidestepping the actual lives destroyed, the children ripped away from their mothers, families torn apart, etc, bc someone said something mean about a white lady. Color me surprised that that's the issue we're supposed to double down on. We'll put on the kid gloves and get started on the mimosa brunch the ungrateful servants put together.

E: I do actually get where you're coming from but I'm super angry at this administration. I'm actually furious at the harm they've done (yes, to my "example women" and also other marginalized people in my life, thanks for writing them off though)

It's just where I jumped into the thread.

And yet, you made it about yourself, even though it wasn't directed at you.

Sexism isn't just "mean", no need to minimize it. Sexist remarks do exactly what you say: they distract from the actual lives destroyed, the children ripped away from their mothers, families torn apart, etc, just for a "gotcha" moment and high fives.

There are much more productive (and frankly creative) ways to rightfully shit on her while bringing attention to those actual issues. One can take off the kid gloves without sexist behavior, if one actually gives a shit about her fucked up and depraved actions.

Let me reemphasize: this was never about you. It was never directed at you. Yet, you made it about yourself multiple times.

It wasn't about me until you turbo-libs decided to start muddying the waters. The same shit is already happening with the other fuckheads I mentioned. Millions of comments all over the place about their wise leadership. Fucking disgusting.

You will keep slow-playing this political change and whining about incivility until status quo is restored. We know the playbook. You're doing great.

I will continue voting for the rudest motherfuckers alive until the day I die. I will continue viciously attacking bullies. Fuck your civility and your agenda.

You should block me because you're never going to change my mind. Soft as fucking baby shit. Completely oblivious to the actual stakes. Liberals!

Is calling her a slut bigotry though? I'm a whore. I like sex, I like women and I like men, amongst other things. My partner knows this and even she has openly said she was a whore/slut back when she was younger. I'd never shame others for doing what I do, and I'd never act better than anyone who even does a fraction of what I do.

Bobo did that, though. She acted holier than thou. She came off like she was better than everyone and that she didn't have any stains on her white dress. To me that means when you go and act like that and then do slutty stuff don't be surprised if you're called a hoe.

The issue is when you start saying things like that, dropping accusations like that, it’s not only about the person you’re insulting and you. There are other people in the equation. To my mind there are two elements to this:

First: say someone comes from a religious background and isn’t quite so sexually liberated as you and so already struggles with that internalized guilt. Call someone a slut in front of that person and all of a sudden they are witnessing something they’re afraid of in themselves being turned against someone as a weapon to hurt, and now they have to deal with more fear of the shame, this time from you. That’s the thing: you say you’d never shame someone, but how are they supposed to feel safe around you if they see you do it to someone else?

Second: the things we say and do inform the norms of social interaction. Every time you direct an attack rooted in bigotry at someone you establish, just a little bit, the norm that it is acceptable to do so. It leaves the door open for those who might not be so discerning as you to enter the conversation, participate in that bigotry, and then take that a step too far.

Like, sure, you can argue that the insult is coming from a place of “I don’t believe this is wrong, but I know you do, so fuck you.” But the way we handle these conversations dictates more than just that conversation: it impacts social norms as a whole in a way that spits in the face of common decency. I don’t think that’s something we should consider an acceptable cost.

Ultimately, I just think it’s unnecessarily cruel, and utterly pointless when we’re talking about someone who has so much that is perfectly valid to criticize her for.

This is how I feel. This comments section is full of people who complain about the state of the US but then cry like babies if you attack the oligarchy but aren’t polite about it.

Revolutions are ugly and messy. These prissy democrats don’t have the right stuff to ever make meaningful change.

I don’t think “the right stuff for meaningful change” is calling some no name politician a slut on a forum that maybe a couple thousand people will read, and those that will are already in agreement. Go volunteer or something dude
