Me and my fiancee tried color matching some foundation to me. I don't usually wear makeup because I have some pretty messy hobbies and it would get splattered with oil and dirt or whatevs. We used the skin tone on the bottom of my wrist as it's the lightest part of my arms.

When we got the color home and tried it that shit was so orange, like mar-a-lago face level of orange (It was rough explaining that to her). But when I looked closer in the mirror I realized that my whole face is like, super fair and pale compared to the rest of my body and I think I know why.

I drive a convertible with the top down a lot, but I also wear hats and big sunglasses so my face is always shaded. I tan super well but I never went out of my way to tan my face skin. Like my body skin is probably golden / warm and my face is pretty fuckin pale, this complicates things a bit...

I was told by my hair stylist who is also a vfx makeup artist that I should colour match on my neck because that's where your foundation is going to cut off, and it's a lot easier to blend it seamlessly if it's already as close in colour as possible to your cutoff point. It took 3 tries to get the right shade for me, and the second time was someone at sephora matching it for me, and she went way too warm for my skin. I use soft glam foundation from elf in shade 11 in a range of 10 to 65
