What I liked so much about the Roku is that they were really cheap, mostly worked w/o too much bother and you could opt out of any "subscription" bullshit. I mostly just want the hardware, maybe if it offers firmware updates, fine, but other than that, I don't really want to hear from the makers of the hardware.

I might opt for buying something really small like mini or sbc or the like when I need to replace the Rokus I have. Some of them are many, many, many years old and have kept on chugging, though.

Might hold off on buying new hardware since anything computer has gone up in price and/or is backordered...

3 years ago. But in my defense, they were zip disks so they were a whopping 200MB, not 1.41MB.

This was for a long-time customer who had a safe full of old server towers from their business, and wanted everything backed up before destroying. They were blown away when I got 4 computer's worth of data on 1 flash drive, and kept asking if I'm sure I got everything lol.

I told them despite me copying everything off the zip disks, and IDE & PATA HDDs, I still had about half the space available 🤯. They appreciate all the freed up room in the safe, and I appreciate some retro towers to house some killer new hardware for a sleeper (pre RAMpocalypse).

Deer are farmed, too. You can just buy venison at fancy butcher shops in many large cities.

Or, maybe you've heard about buying things online.

    https://www.blackwing.com/venison.html

Finding venison isn't an impossible task by any stretch of the imagination.

None. What happens now is A LOT of social engineering phish tactics via those detailed sources, so I've since closed all accounts. I'll find a new job via networking with current people if I so choose.

I pronounce it with the 'Keh' sound when I use the phonetic alphabet, and I've heard others do so as well. The word doesn't need to start with the sound of the letter, it just needs to be somewhat intelligible as that word, and not one of the other words in the phonetic alphabet. For example, if Celine was spelling her name, she would use the phonetic 'Charlie', even though her name doesn't start with the 'Ch' sound.

I'm on an Onn 4k plus with projectivy launcher which itself is so much better but also with a few remote buttons remapped, some sideloaded apps like smarttube and it's such a better experience from my old Roku.

Felt like making a parody song to celebrate Luigiangione.

People didn’t seem to understand it.

    Maybe you will:

    Every breath you take

    And every move you make

    Every bond you break

    Every step you take

    I'll be watching you

    Every single day

    And every word you say

    Every game you play

    Every night you stay

    I'll be watching you

Oh, can't you see you belong to me?

    How I feed you fakes

    with every step you take

    Every job you take

    Each moment you’re awake

    Regardless what’s at stake

If you just pick up a rake

    I’ll be watching you

Since I came, You’ve  been lost without a trace

You’re sweet intelligence I have replaced

You feel so cold, and have no one too embrace

You keep crying baby, baby, please

    Mm, mm, mm, mm

    Mm, mm, mm

Oh, can't you see you belong to me?

Unless you smash your phone, you never will be free!

    You can save your life

    Cut out all that strife

    You can walk away

    Do it today

But if you leave I can’t watch you all the time

No more distractions and corporate slime

You’ll have private picnics in the sun

When you meet out justice you can run

Trust me this is will be fun!

    Corporations will be undone

    They won’t be watching you!

    That's impressive.

Back in the day there was a TV show called Twin Peaks. On this show one of the actresses did this with a cherry stem. Later on Saturday Night Live, they spoofed this with one of the comedians trying a bow, like you would get on a Christmas package. Cracked me up.

Going to session 1 of a Cyberpunk D&D campaign tomorrow and I know almost nothing about Cyberpunk but it should be cool. My buddy is the DM, his gf who I don't like will be there, along with her friend that they're trying to set me up with. She seems cool but if I were to date her that might mean I would either have to hang out with my friend's gf more, or tell the friend that I don't like the gf. Also I don't think my buddy and his gf have a healthy relationship. I think each of them needs to be with someone more emotionally stable than themself. Publicly he will tell you he's deeply in love. He's gone full step-dad. There have been multiple instances of him getting drunk and indicating that she's destroying him inside. We'll see how it goes.

We all designed mini figures on Hero Forge and I'm 3D printing them now, which is cool.

Android TV boxes are the way to go IMO. Lots of replacement launchers and ways to remove all the baked-in ads and the like, even if you can't root the device.

If you're stateside, Walmart's ONN brand devices are the absolute best bang for your buck you can find. They're not locked down, so you're able to get into the proper Android system menu and disable apps and so on (including telemetry). You can even activate ADB and tinker that way, though you don't need to if you just want to install a more simple (read: ad-free) home screen and turn off all the tracking garbage.

He practised every presentation until he could give it without interruption.

That's right-ish. He was a firearms instructor, both in the Marine Corps and as a civilian. He was also an expert witness in dozens, if not hundreds, of criminal trials, where he would explain ballistics to jurors. That was his practice. His videos were all one take because that was the hundredth time he'd presented that information, or information very similar, in an educational format.

It's not just "someone", it's his brother, Roy. Paul introduced him early on, after he knew he was sick, but before he told everyone. Roy has always been a part of Paul's "crew" and started becoming a bigger part of some videos before taking over the channel entirely. So, it wasn't out of nowhere, and it was what Paul wanted.
