As a voyager user, I actually like the lack of notifications. I understand not everyone will agree, but I don't want this app to be able to interrupt me.

But from a technical perspective, I think it is probably a non trivial problem to solve, since the server w; uld need a way to let the client know there is a new notification, which would mean either having a constant connection open (wasting battery life), using google Firebase (which I imagine there's a solid overlap of Lemmy users and degooglers), or the app and server supporting unified push. You'd also have to account for multiple accounts, potentially on different instances, to effectively multiplying the above.

    Hello All!

I recently got licensed, and bought my first HT station. I ended up going with a TIDRADIO TD-H3 since I saw it can do HAM bands, along with GRMS/FRS. I figured this would be a good HT that has decent features, price point, and size (so I can bring it hiking).

However I am trying to get it to tune to an FRS channel, which should be doable, as it is listed within the bands it supports. However it isn't letting me transmit. If I hit PTT, nothing happens. If I try to configure the GRMS channels via CHIRP I get an error about the fact that my TX freq is out of range so it hat do disable duplex.

I updated firmware, both with the one downloaded from their site, as well as tid_uMod. Still get the same results on both. This is the one I bought https://www.ebay.com/itm/178349069761 (dont buy from that seller by the way, they're an amazon drop shipper.... Planning on reporting them)

    Thanks in advanced!

Edit: I figured it out! The HT was in "HAM" mode. In order to use both Ham frequencies, and GMRS freqs, it has to be in "Normal" mode. To change the mode, turn off the HT, then turn it on whilst pressing PTT and *. This will pop up a screen with a list of 1. HAM 2. GMRS 3. NORMAL. Once selected, you need to press the BT button to confirm, which will wipe all settings, but you'll be able to use GMRS.

I have been going to the same barber for 7 years. I have only gotten cut once or twice by someone else I think, which was when I moved away for about 6 months for an internship, regretted it greatly. Stopped doing that, and just scheduled cuts when I visited back.

I couldn't tell you exactly what my haircut is. He knows it. I think it is a 3 or 4 on the back, 2 or 3 on the sides, and shorten the front/top.

  • Baked Ziti (programming.dev)

A couple friends just had a baby. So my SO and I brought a Baked Ziti. I'm the one who made this, I'm still learning to cook well when my partner is amazing. They tasted it and said "I've taught you will, young grasshopper", so that was nice.

Edit: if anyone is curious, here's the recipe. https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/baked-ziti-with-sausage.html#recipe
